They had managed to live together.
Argenti was particularly cleanly, while Boothill was messy and unkempt, but, for Argenti he would attempt to help out. 'Attempt' in the smallest way, that is. Boothill was disruptive- especially on the days Robin's shows were broadcasted- and it was hard for him to get Boothill to clean any of it after, since he'd be exhausted. The living room would be sacrificed to a unbeatable mess.
In their kitchen- there was small evidence of their cohabitation- another mess. It was a small area compared to the rest of the ship's rooms, as the knight had previously lived alone before. Argenti offered to clean it, Boothill was overjoyed to not have to, which was surprising to Argenti. The ranger was particularly clingy, and never sat across from him. He didn't like staying in the kitchen long alone; originally, Boothill felt out of place with the pristine whites, marble counters, and perfectly waxed flooring. He'd stick by the knight to feel somewhat comfortable, not bothering to nitpick- Argenti was both a man of beauty and integrity- The One and Only must always be in perfect condition if he wishes to make a safe trip to Idrila.
However, he was also quick to gift Boothill any white clothing he could find, oversized t-shirts, blouses, he even ordered a white version of the pants Boothill normally strutted around in.
It did the trick- Boothill wore clothes that he believed made him feel right at home, and he began to act like it as well. Always asking Argenti to eat dinner together, sitting as close as possible, even if it made him overheat. He always wanted to share treats together, whether it be things they earned while out, or, things they made at home.
For some reason, though, after their dessert, Boothill up and left out of the kitchen without saying much. Normally, Argenti'd poke or pry, but he figured this wasn't the best time. Their dinner didn't go exactly as planned, so, he understood Boothill's slight upset.
Currently, Argenti was washing their dishes for that day, swaying side to side at the kitchen sink to imaginary music.
Boothill had followed a recipe he'd been scowering for for a while, and made a little fluffy cake that they shared together. It was a particularly good cake for someone who rarely allowed himself to cook; having random talents and keeping up with being 'human' was something Boothill treasured.
Argenti respected it, and the cake. He was so caught up in the thought of them sharing the sweet strawberry treat together, the knight letting merry laughs out how confused Boothill seemed about eating something as soft as a cake with his teeth. He'd been so confused at how it just disappeared under pressure, and resulted in trying to eat like a shark.
That did not go well.
Cake had been smeared on the plate and table, some of it had flung itself onto the counter. It was a mess, and the two had stopped to just stare at it, before Argenti had to stifle his amusement.
The red-haired knight erupted into laughter at the time; it was adorable, up until he realized Boothill was actually frustrated with this challenge. The knight felt bad, knowing very well why he must've been upset then. He tried thinking of any way to resolve this without using words.. and got it. Argenti carefully scooped some of the cake onto his tongue, letting it melt there before swallowing slowly. He repeated it, showing the ranger until Boothill understood, praised him as gently as he could, and allowed the ranger to try. Boothill did better if he allowed himself to be patient, which was a rarity. That had gone better, but he'd still left.
Argenti didn't think much of it after his assistance, but now he is. Clearly, Boothill was missing eating like a human. It would make sense, and would give reason to why he was so upset at the time, and too embarrassed to say anything about it aloud. The rest of their dessert time was pretty quiet. When was the last time Boothill actually ate a cake, he wondered?
"'Genti," The knight turned, his thoughts dissipating after hearing the ranger's term of endearment for him, only to jump feeling Boothill's teeth close around his cheek, and strong arms encircling his waist to hold him there. The bite was gentle, like he was trying to understand, like sharks do. Argenti didn't even protest, it was endearing and he found himself wondering what exactly the steel ranger had been getting up to when he left. The solution being bites made him wonder, what was the equation?
Argenti felt himself smiling, letting his eyes flutter shut as he spoke aloud. His voice was slightly off from Boothill pulling at his face, but it was funny to the both of them, and clearly to Boothill, as he was grinning despite his teeth being lodged in Argenti's face. "Ranger? My, I appreciate you involving me in your reattempts to practice consumption, but I'm afraid I'm not food."
The stifled laugh on Argenti's face was felt, both literally and figuratively. "Really? That really is somethin', darlin, I'm afraid I didn't notice. You look pretty good to me, anyway."
The ranger continued his exploratory biting, his visible eye squinting every now and then in the corner of Argenti's. He looked so cute, that the knight couldn't stop him at all, only hoping Idrila would forgive him for his indulgence.
"'Hill.. dear, what might you be doing? I'm very curious." Argenti allowed himself to get comfortable, and dropped the spoon he was holding into the metallic sink, wincing at the sound it made. That didn't waver Boothill's biting at all, but he needed to speak.
Reluctantly, and clearly with some hesitation, the ranger unhooked his teeth from Argenti, "Practicing.." He attempted to bite again, until he realized that he actually needed to finish speaking.
"Practicing for.. soft foods. I'm using to biting soft things hard like y-"
The knight whacked a hand onto Boothill's mouth, his face now erupting with a violent blush. That, he didn't want the ranger to finish. He was very aware of their bedroom escapades, but, what part of that had to do with this..? He wondered then- was he really as soft as a cake? Maybe that wasn't the proper time to wonder, but he was curious. "Boothill! Dearest Idrila, please, your wording, nothing vulgar in my presence, please! I will spare every minute and hour to listen to you, as long as it isn't that.."
Boothill let out a hearty laugh, energtic and full of life, just like him. No steel casing would change the fact that the ranger had enough excitable energy- humanity- for the both of them. He'd consider Boothill a bad influence if he didn't admire him so much. Between the two of them, the ranger was unbelievably vocal about their relationship, and it never, ever failed to make Argenti flustered.
Boothill's face erupted into an excited smile, his voice dropping an octave, "You're funny, bird. Not what I was alluding to, though.. but thank you.. for letting me bite you. Both then and no-"
Argenti took the spoon he dropped and brought it down on Boothill's head, ignoring the out-loud screech of terror the other let out right after the action. He'd never tell Boothill he did already wash it, as the fluffy haired ranger clearly forgot washing his hair was a thing he needed to do recently. They were both particular about their appearances, to the highest degree, never wanting to be underdressed or improper, so it at least meant Boothill would occupy himself with washing his hair, instead of flirting.
However.. Argenti grabbed at Boothill's wriggling figure, turning the ranger to face him and encapsulating his chin in his thumb and forefinger. It made the other's eye widen considerably, a faint blush across Boothill's face as his eyes settled into a tauntingly alluring expression.
"After you wash your hair, I can bring the cake out again! We'll practice together," He bumped noses with Boothill after speaking, barely missing the other's shocked, disappointed, then excited faces, in that order. He probably wanted a kiss.. Still, it got the ranger to move, and Argenti happily returned to his chores right after.
