Mydei wakes up in a field: not a battlefield, but a field (however, it turned into one. Years after. Maybe moments after. Real Mydei can't remember when and Dream Mydei doesn't even know there was a “when,” and he hopes that real Gorgo doesn't learn that wherever she rests. Oh, as if). White flowers bloom around him as he blinks awake. Slowly, Gorgo begins to appear, and his head no longer rests on the grassy field, but now the lap of his mother. Sometimes, his body feels smaller. Sometimes, his body feels the same. Other times he grows from big and small with every word that leaves his mother's mouth. On birthdays, it's often the third.

He turned instinctively, and was face to face with Shane fucking Hollander.
Out of almost seven billion people, of course Ilya's soulmate had to be his fated rival. It was almost poetic. Still, Ilya had enough sense to realize just how bad this was.
or, Shane says Ilya's soulmate words. Ilya vows to never speak a word to him to keep him from finding out. They fall in love anyway.
