Summary
If he was the sun, whose finite brightness would consume his very being once it burned away its last shred of luck, then you were like the moon, shining languidly against the shadows that sought to ensnare you within it. Your tattered cloak concealed your face, yet he could still discern it ever so clearly: your diamond-shaped pupils scrutinizing him.
"Heh, should I call myself unfortunately lucky to have stumbled upon a person who slaughtered my kind?"
"Hmm...Then let me ask you this, Mr. Aventurine." Jumping down from your perch, you discreetly drew something silver from your cloak. Its reflection shimmered like pristine jewels, yet when met with the face of the IPC representative, it showed his unwavering yet trembling smirk.
"If you were a starving wolf, would you also ignore the screaming wails of a poor squirrel between your jaws? Or worse, what if that same squirrel tried to deceive you into stepping into a trap? In such a desolate world, even the sand and tumbleweed became my dinner. No matter how much my mouth bled, it's only human nature to prioritize one's survival."
