Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

An alarm blared throughout my room waking me from my peaceful sleep. I groaned and pulled the blanket into my chest and closed my eyes. I don’t want to get up. I never want to get up. Sleeping is the only time I’m at peace. The only time when I’m fine. When nothing is wrong. Even if I might not be myself when I wake.

My alarm continued to blare loudly. I wish I could break that fucking thing but chief will get mad at me. I’ve already broken so many of them I have lost count. I think Larry is keeping track of all the alarms that have died by my hands. I pulled the blanket over my head and groaned again. I don't want to get up. I’m so tired. I feel like fucking shit.

I rolled over and hit my alarm, turning it off. I looked at the time and it said 7 pm. What the fuck? Whatever. I rolled back over and hid back under my blanket. I closed my eyes and tried my hardest to go to sleep but then I heard loud ass fucking footsteps in the hallway. I groaned again as I heard my door open and the sound of a robot sigh.

“Lucas? Is that you under there?” Cliff asked as he walked over to me. Normally he would pull the blanket off of me but I know he won't if he doesn't know who he's talking to.

“Yep,” I mumbled.

“Good afternoon Lucas. Get up. Dinner is soon,”

“I’m not hungry,”

“Just get up,” he snapped and pulled the blanket away from me.

“No! Stop!” I yelled and grabbed the blanket trying to pull it back.

“Get. Up. Lucas,” he said, emphasizing every word.

“Fine! Okay! I'll get up and come down! Just get out!” I yelled and sat up.

“Just come down please,” he said before handing me the blanket back. Then he turned around and walked out of the room but he paused and turned around.

“What happened?”

“Wyatt happened. I’ll explain when you come downstairs,” he answered before walking out of the room and closing the door behind him.

I sighed and looked at my left hand to see if the shackle was still there but it wasn't connected to the floor like it was supposed to be. I sighed again and got up from bed. My head started to spin as I stumbled over to my closet. The sound of the chain dragging behind me made my head hurt.

Once I got to my closet I grabbed a black long-sleeve shirt that was hanging up. I swear to god I fell asleep with a shirt on but I guess Wyatt must have decided that shirts are no longer expectable. He must have set the alarm for whoever was going to front next so we didn’t miss dinner.

I eventually got the shirt on after struggling with the fucking chain that is attached to my arm. I pulled out a pair of black sweatpants and put them on as well. I guess Wyatt also didn’t like pants. I walked to my desk looking for the key to my shackle but I couldn't find it. I swear I put it here. Here the fuck did they go? I moved all the shit on my desk around and still nothing.

“Are you fucking kidding me!?” I yelled and slammed my hands on the desk.

“Are you all right in there?” I heard Gar's voice coming from the other side of my door.

“Yes! I’m fine!” I yelled and rubbed my head.

“You don't sound fine,” he said.

“Well I am so please go away,” I snapped.

“Well now I can't go away,” he replied and opened the door. I saw his bright green hair in the corner of my eye. “What are you looking for?” He asked as he joined my side.

“The keys,” I answered.

“To your shackles?” He asked.

“No for my fucking car yes for my shackles!” I snapped.

“Someone's in a bad mood,” he teased.

“Yeah, I am,” I snapped. “Whatever fuck the keys I’ll get the chief to break me out,” I sighed.

“Okay beloved cousin of mine let's go eat,” he smiled as he linked arms with me and started to walk out of my room.

“How are you always in such a good mood?” I asked.

“It's a talent of mine,” he replied.

“I can tell,” I smiled.

“So…?” He started but paused.

“Lucas,” I mumbled.

“Lucas! What do you want to do today?” He asked as he leaned closer.

“Nothing,” I answered.

“Come on. I’d fail my job as your cousin if I let you die in your room,” he said.

“I'd love to die,” I said with a smile.

“Don't say that,” he frowned.

“It's the truth, Gar,” I said. “The day is almost over anyway,” I added.

“Yeah but that doesn’t mean we can’t hang out,”

“I feel like shit,” I snapped. “Fucking Wyatt,” I hissed.

“We can play that video game you like after dinner,” he suggested.

“Sorry Gar but I don’t want to. Maybe tomorrow,” I said.

“If you're even you tomorrow,” he mumbled as we walked into the dining room.

I frowned as he said that. Now I feel bad.

“Look who finally decided to join us!” Larry said as he brought different trays of food to the table.

“Sup Larry,” Gar said as he dragged me to the table and sat in a chair. Then he pulled me down to sit in the chair next to him.

“Hi,” I mumbled.

“So who exactly decided to join us?” Larry asked as he put a plate in front of me.

“Lucas,” I mumbled.

“Well hello Lucas,” he said and patted my head.

“Is Rita going to come down today or?” I asked as Larry lifted the covers to the food.

All different types of food were under those covers. Different stakes and shit. Then there was a whole chicken and turkey next to each other. There was also some vegetarian food on the table for Gar. Then there were a shit ton of different sides.

“No she's not coming down,” he answered.

“Well she's fucking missing out,” I said as Gar put one of the stakes on my plate.

“This looks so good thank you, Larry,” Gar smiled and grabbed some salad.

“No problem,” he said and sat down across from us.

“Wish I could eat some,” Cliff said as he walked in.

“That's your problem,” I said.

“Shut up you little shit,” Cliff snapped as he sat down next to Larry.

“No chocolate cake today?” I asked.

“Nope,” Larry answered, sounding annoyed.

“Oh, that sucks,” I said as I stabbed my stake with my fork.” Why?” I asked.

“Wyatt raided the kitchen this morning. Ate all the chocolate,” he explained.

“Oh,” I frowned.

“Yeah,” he sighed.

“I’m sorry,” I mumbled and looked down at my hands.

“It’s all right. How are you feeling?” He asked.

“Like shit,” I answered.

“He did throw up after,” Cliff said.

“Fucking Wyatt,” I groaned and rubbed my head.

“He’s something else,” Gar mumbled with a mouthful of food.

“You should eat Lucas,” Cliff said.

“I’m not hungry,”

“Lucas,” Cliff said.

“Leave me alone,” I snapped.

“Good afternoon everyone,” Chief said as he walked into the room.

“Good afternoon,” Gar smiled as he shoveled salad into his mouth.

“Hello Wyatt,” Chief said.

“I’m Lucas,” I snapped again.

“My apologies,” he said as he sat down. “Hello Lucas,” he smiled.

“Hi,”

“How are you feeling?” He asked.

“Like shit,” I huffed and crossed my arms. The chain dragged loudly as I did.

“Why do you still have your chains on?” He asked.

“I couldn’t find the keys,” I answered. “Why didn’t you take them off me this morning?” I asked.

“Wyatt didn’t let me, after we eat I’ll unlock you and get you new ones,” he said and I nodded. “You should eat,”

“Fine,” I sighed and cut a piece of steak, and put it in my mouth. The second it touched my tongue I felt sick. I dropped my fork and covered my mouth. Please not now. Please.

“Lucas, are you okay?” Gar asked as I got up.

“I need to go to the bathroom,” I replied while I gagged.

I hurried out of the room and made my way to the nearest bathroom. I opened the door and slammed the door behind me and locked it. I ran to the toilet and opened it before letting it all out. My throat burned as all of whatever the hell I ate today came out.

After dying for a few minutes I finally stopped puking. I fell backward as my back hit the bathtub behind me. Panic filled me as I rested my head on the porcelain of the bathtub. Tears formed in my eyes as my vision became blurry and my body started to shake. I pulled my legs into my chest and rested my head on my knees.

“Lucas you all right?” Gar asked from the other side of the door.

I closed my eyes and tried my hardest to breathe normally. But it wasn’t working. I closed my eyes trying to stop tears from falling. Nothing worked. I just sat there. Shaking and crying like a fucking child.

“Lucas?” Gar asked as he tried to open the door.

“Go away,” I said. My voice was shaky. He must think I’m pathetic. I'm in the bathroom throwing up and having a panic attack.

“No Lucas, I'm not going away. Unlock the door,” he said.

“I can’t,” I mumbled as I closed my eyes again.

He started to say something but I couldn’t pay attention. I groaned as my head suddenly started to hurt. I feel like I just got stabbed. I know this fucking feeling. My god, please don’t. Not now. But the pain didn’t go away. I tried my hardest to fight it but the pain took over me and I slowly lost consciousness.
