RUINATION.

Summary:

ON HOLD

Sylas Rosier has lived his life on a leash and in a cage. He’s the Ministry’s weapon, the one who hunts and kills without remorse. Everything he has ever touched is ruined- tainted by him and his unforgiving hand. And he puts it to use, doing whatever he must to survive. So when he’s sent to kill Atticus Nott, he thinks nothing of it. After all, why should he? Yet when his mission is interrupted by a clever, dark eyed boy claiming he shouldn’t go through with it, Sylas hesitates. And when that boy promises Sylas his freedom, he finds it hard to refuse… even if there is a high price. And an even higher risk.

Chapter 1: PREFACE

Chapter Text

nothing lasts forever

the crow said to the mirror

so the mirror cried and cracked-

and the crow saw it was a raven

it wanted to say secrets untold,

so it spread its wings but they were clipped,

and the raven fell down and down, with broken glass all around

1996.

For Sylas Rosier, it was just another year. Another year of being locked away, of doing what he was told without hesitation.

For Theodore Nott, it was a year of tension and decisions, where he knew he would prove himself by any means necessary.

For Draco Malfoy, it was the year everything was meant to fall into place. When he accepted who he was supposed to be.

For Daphne Greengrass, it was simply another year of desperately trying to break her family's reputation for their own good.

For Andrei Volkov, it was the year that marked a new beginning, one where he could be free from a life he never wanted.

But everything falls apart when they end up colliding. On the run and desperate for answers, the five begin a journey filled with deceit and temptation. And soon, they realize that perhaps it wasn't coincidence that brought them together. The shadow of prophecy hangs over them, turning the edges of their story dark. They were meant to find each other, but they find that fate does not equal easy alliances. Despite racing against time, they find themselves at each other's throats, divided on the same side of their battle.

Promises are made and broken, blood is spilled, and limits are tested. The five slowly find themselves being tainted, destroyed by themselves and the very things they wish to achieve. They know what it feels like to be ruined... but Sylas knows better then them all that they will ruin themselves.

Soon however, Sylas finds himself in a maze of regrets, secrets, and wavering loyalties. Whispers that were never meant to be spoken begin to circulate… and Sylas finds himself holding a secret that was never meant to be discovered. And he must make a decision. Go deeper into the maze, into twisting turns and forgotten paths, with no promise of an escape. Toward things and people that have not yet laid eyes on him, things that have not had a taste of the ruined thing that Sylas is. Or to run, run back to his prison and never look back.

THEODORE NOTT never asked for anything. Except to be left alone. He preferred it, the way it allowed him to think. He didn't enjoy when others were around, all vying for his attention. His mother's last words to him had been "listen your father". His father, the man who would have killed him with a smile on his face if it meant he got what he wanted. But despite that, Theodore wouldn't deny that his father had taught him well. Atticus Nott had taught him how to take control of his own future. And Theodore put that to good use, ensuring that he wasn't caught in any web he couldn't escape. He became a master at crafting exits, finding keys, knowing how to slip in and out of locked rooms. He often found himself in hidden corners and dark rooms, watching and listening.

But when he finds himself standing in the same room with a boy who's words are as sharp as his knife, Theodore finds himself wanting to step out of the shadows. After all, what could go wrong? Yet he finds himself trapped in a maze, a place where he cannot simply escape. And he finds that he now holds something precious, something that can change the course of a life. But he would have to allow himself to be seen- to show others what he is capable of. So, eventually, he is faced with a choice: stay where he is, content and alone... or venture deeper and tangle himself more in a web of danger and heartache.

A dangerous game is being played, one they were never meant to know. They will all ruin themselves by their own hand, caught in a web of lies and loyalty, searching for a door in the darkness. Scars and marks will come to light, as the past is revealed, and they fight to protect who they are... or who they believe themselves to be.
