Sakura's eyes suddenly fluttered open, it must have been her dream that woke her up but it seems like it's contents must have already mostly escaped her memory. She quickly glanced at the clock, it showed a few minutes before 3AM, middle of the night.
Slowly, as not to wake Sasuke up she stretched her hand towards the bedstand where she left a glass of water in the evening. Bringing it to her mouth the cold liquid soothed her partially dry throat and washed away the remains of anxiety that still lingered in her body after that awful dream.
She turned around slightly to put it down onto the table, the wooden surface making a quiet noise at the contact. At the sudden sound, the hand that was encircling her waist squeezed her even thigher. Almost sure that Sasuke has just woken up she brought her tired gaze down ready to meet his hazy eyes but what she saw was a completely different sight.
Sasuke was still sound asleep, his face adorned with a peaceful expression. One of his cheeks was pressed just above her breasts, which made his face a bit squished. His lips were slightly parted, soft puffs leaving them with each breath.
Slowly she brought her hand to his forehead brushing off some of the hair strands that fell over his eyes or were sticking to his skin. He looked so calm, she was sure he was enveloped in a pleasant dream. His mind surely at ease, far away from any problems and worries.
With her fingertips she traced over his relaxed features, his delicate eyelids that fluttered slightly under her touch and his long eyelashes that tingled her skin pleasantly. Over his nose, sliding her pinky down his straight bridge, gently caressing it. Lastly by slightly brushing his lips and jaw she made her way to his cheek, her palm hugging Sasuke's face. It fitted so perfectly in her hand. It was almost as if her palm was forged by some devine beings just for that sole purpose, just so that it could rest against that dear to her face.
She sometimes still couldn't believe she could hold him like that, pressed thightly against her body, so close to her heart. It finally felt like she could shield him from the whole world, she could keep him safe like that, far away from any pain or suffering. Hide him in her embrace and allow him to feel loved.
Her thumb that rested at the corner of his mouth started to lovingly caress his check. Sakura could feel small goosebumps rising under her fingers, she could feel the warmth of his skin. Her heated body so close by was keeping him warm, causing a delicate blush to adorn his face.
She wasn't sure for how long she was starting at him but she didn't really care. He was so precious to her, she just wanted to keep on holding him like that for the whole night.
A faint smile slowly made it's way to her face. 'You're so precious to me.' She repeated those words in her mind again. He would probably get all flustered if she ever said that straight to his face but she's going to do that some day anyways. She knows he secretly enjoys it when she says sweet things to him even if he really tries to hide it. Besides she really wants Sasuke to know just how much he means to her, how truly precious he is in her eyes.
Not letting go of his face Sakura rested her chin atop his head, closing her eyes she knew no more nightmares will haunt her that night.
