Chapter Text
Eden never had a big family. She never knew her parents as she was given away to her aunt right after she was born. She grew up with her younger cousin and they basically considered each other as siblings. Eden found comfort within reading comic books so it was her main pastime. Her cousin accompanied her with it, but was never as invested as she was. As she got older she started catering her obsession towards Spider-Man in particular, collecting things related to the hero. Comics, movies, plushies, posters, you name it.
She and her Cousin eventually grew apart as they didn’t share interests and started becoming cold towards each other. Once she was a teen she wanted to find out her parents were, but had no idea where to start. She started studying genetics to see if she could run a program to match her DNA with her parents as she couldn’t afford a DNA test. She never got it to work though as she was always short of something that she needed and her aunt wouldn’t buy it for her because she saw it as a waste of time.
Once she was in high school she met her best friend Lucy who shared the same interests with her. They grew insanely close over the course of high school, but did break apart a little bit when Lucy started dating toxic men. Eden tried to make her see their red flags but only made Lucy snap at her and they grew apart.
When Eden graduated she wanted to pursue science, but she didn’t have enough money to pay for tuition at any of the colleges that she wanted to attend, and they mostly didn’t agree with her practices. So she decided to attend an art program at a less prestigious school. When she moved In she met her roommate and they hit it off somewhat. They took a couple classes together and helped each other with studying. Lucy did reach out a few times after she broke up with her red flag boyfriend and tried to rekindle their friendship. She offered to take Eden on a small hike to talk things out.
They hiked a small secluded trail and had lunch near a waterfall, and they were reconnecting. But things took a turn when a brightly colored spider found its way up Eden’s leg and onto her arm. It ended up biting her pretty badly. At first she was just like ‘damn haha.’ And smacked it off before seizing up and collapsing on the ground, her muscles spazzing out. Lucy freaked out and tried to get her to safety while calling 911. Eventually Eden passed out and woke up within an ambulance, hearing panicked voices around her before blacking out again and reawakening in the hospital with her hand bandaged up. Lucy had stayed with her the entire time and took her back to her college once she was able to leave the hospital. Afterwards they became good friends again.
Eden was very into the Marvel movies and the MCU in general, basing most of her art projects off of heroes from the brand. Eventually Into the Spiderverse and Across the Spiderverse released and it inspired her art into a new high, doodling the characters consistently in her sketchbook in between classes, definitely not helping her Spider-Man obsession.
One day she was going to grab a coffee before heading to class to present a group project with her roommate and another classmate. Her roommate calls her and asks where she’s at because she was supposed to get to class five minutes early in order to prepare for the presentation, in which Eden says that she’s grabbing a quick coffee and says she’ll be there in a minute and hangs up. Grabbing a coffee she starts sprinting to class, drinking the entire thing on the way and tossing it into a trash can. Eventually she felt the earth rumble, making her freeze, unsure of what it was. Unbenounced to her there was an unstable hole in the multiverse in front of her. It didn’t present itself as a portal but she stepped forward and ended up collapsing down, disappearing from sight, nobody noticing that she clipped through the road.
