Blindfolded

Summary:

Ryoji doesn't know why he finds this so hard. Kissing is like the main thing couples do, and yet he gets so overwhelmed every time.

Unable to take the sudden adrenaline, he pulled back abruptly from their kiss. Minato opened his eyes curiously to look at him, and Ryoji felt his face getting even warmer. The butterflies in his stomach made themselves known, too.

Oh, God. He doesn't know what to do or what to say to the boy. He can just stare at him, speechless and totally enthralled.

He's a total mess, isn't he?

---

Ryoji is having troubles with kissing. Minato does his best to make it more comfortable for him.

Notes:

Okay, so a lot of people write Minato as being the shy one, and that's fine, but then I was like, what if it was Ryoji who was shy?? And I just thought it could be really cute?? So, here we are :)

Enjoy <3

Work Text:

"Kiss me..?" Minato asked quietly, staring at him with those captivating, ocean-blue eyes of his. He scooted closer on the bed they were sitting on and leaned in ever so slightly, giving him an expectant look.

Ryoji froze, his breath suddenly hitching. Color filled his cheeks immediately.

"Uh, yeah, sure-"

He stopped, taking a deep breath instead. A second later, he quickly pressed his lips on Minato's before he could overthink it even more. He felt the other boy smile into the kiss.

Ryoji doesn't know why he finds this so hard. Kissing is like the main thing couples do, and yet he gets so overwhelmed every time.

Don't even get him started on what he feels when the blue-haired boy glances at him like he did just now. His heart starts beating unbelievably fast, and he just can't. Calm. It. Down. Just thinking about it makes new waves of warm and fuzzy feelings bloom inside his chest. It's too much.

Minato smiled softly.

"Still can't get used to it, can you?"

"..Frankly, no," Ryoji breathed out. "Um. Sorry.. I just need a moment," he muttered, looking away.

"It's fine. Don't worry about it," the other boy reassured him.

..It always went like this.

The two of them would hang out, mostly in Minato's room, like today, and at some point, they'd get into the stuff couples do. And though he'd get flustered a lot, Ryoji was fine with most of it.

Hand holding was fine. Flirting, teasing, and compliments were okay, too. He liked it when Minato would cuddle with him.

It's just the kissing that's the problem for him. For some reason, he just can't think straight when their lips are pressed together.

"You know.. I never thought you'd be like this, considering how much of a flirt you used to be with the girls in our class," Minato says, amused.

Well. There is a reason for that.

"That was different." Ryoji frowned lightly. "I was just teasing them because I was bored. I wasn't actually interested in them. You, on the other hand.." His words died in his throat, but it was pretty clear what he was trying to say.

Only you make me feel like this. Only you make me feel like I'm actually in love, he wanted to say.

Minato stared at him for a bit before smiling to himself.

"I see."

He paused, then followed up.

"..I've been thinking about how we could get better. At kissing, I mean."

Ryoji smiled at how he used the word we. He was pretty sure the problem was only him, not the blue-haired boy. Minato always seemed very eager to kiss.

"Yeah? What did you come up with?"

Minato grinned at him. "Give me your scarf."

Ryoji blinked.

"What?"

The boy didn't answer his question. He only got another one of his cheeky smiles in return.

"I want to try something."

Well. Ryoji couldn't lie—he was intrigued.

"Is it too tight?"

"It's fine," Ryoji said, his cheeks already red at the thought of what's going to happen soon.

"Good." Minato finished wrapping the scarf around the boy's head, let go of it, and went back to sit down. They were still on the bed, sitting opposite each other.

...Yes, Minato had the idea to blindfold him with his scarf. It worked well, as he couldn't see a thing through it.

Ryoji blindly fiddled with the bottom of his shirt, not knowing what to do.

"S-So.. You're gonna kiss me like this..?"

He heard Minato hum. "Mhm. I have a feeling that seeing my face as we're leaning in is distracting you. Maybe this will help."

"I.. I see," he mumbled.

Even like this, he couldn't help but be kind of nervous. He knows he's not that good of a kisser. He.. He doesn't want to mess it up again-

His thoughts trailed off when he felt a pair of hands grab his. They were so warm..

"..We'll just do a few kisses. It's going to be fine, don't worry," Minato reassured him again.

The boy knew him so well by now.. It actually helped a little to calm him down. Ryoji quietly nodded.

And after a brief moment of silence, he heard Minato swallow.

"Well.. Here it goes."

Right as he said that, suddenly, all of the nervousness came crashing back to him. It felt like a cruel joke. It was even more intense now that he couldn't see when exactly it was going to happen. He just knows that it will.

And then it really happened. Minato closed the gap between them, the kiss as gentle and sweet as it could be.

It was still overwhelming for him, but.. Minato was still holding his hands. Ryoji wasn't sure if Minato even knew how comforting it felt.

They pulled back after a few seconds.

Huh. He was able to keep it together for the whole duration of it, not abruptly pulling back in the middle of a kiss like he usually does.

"Can I do it again..?" Minato asked, his tone quiet.

"Yeah-"

As soon as the word left his mouth, Minato pressed their lips together again. Ryoji made a surprised sound, as he didn't expect it. But he didn't pull back.

..He felt like he was floating. Minato's lips were so soft, the loving touch making him feel warm inside.

It kind of reminded him of their first kiss. Believe it or not, it was actually Ryoji who initiated that one. After the surprising revelation that Minato returned his feelings, he just couldn't help himself and leaned in. That was one of the few times he didn't overthink a kiss.

He didn't have time to overthink this one either. The way Minato leaned in was so sudden, and he couldn't do anything besides melting into it.

..He liked it when it felt like this.

"It's not so bad, is it..?" Minato muttered after pulling back. He squeezed their still-connected hands. "You're doing fine, as long as your eyes are covered."

Ryoji nodded. He was sure his face was still red. He tilted his head, glancing wantingly at the blue-haired boy.

"Minato-kun.. kiss me more, please."

He didn't get a response. Instead, he felt Minato's hands disconnect from his.

"Minato-kun..?"

The bed dipped slightly beneath them as (presumably) the blue-haired boy moved. Ryoji had no idea what was going on, but then he almost squealed when he felt Minato's hands grab his shoulders for support.

The boy climbed into his lap, seating himself there. He wrapped his legs around Ryoji's waist and snuggled into him.

Ryoji thought he was going to faint with how fast his heartbeat sped up.

"Is this okay?" Minato asked quietly.

Ryoji didn't even have to think about his answer. With a quick nod, he hugged him with his arms, embracing him. It elicited a contented laugh from the boy.

"..I still want to kiss you, though." Ryoji muttered.

With a smile, Minato leaned in closer to his face. Their noses brushed gently against one another's.

"We're not finished yet, don't worry."

Ryoji couldn't believe how a single sentence made him feel so warm inside. He couldn't get enough of the feeling.

Minato began placing a few small, teasing kisses on the corner of his mouth before moving on to full kisses on his lips. His hands sneaked up, and he placed them on Ryoji's cheeks, bringing them even closer.

It went from simple kissing to making out very quickly.

Both of them kept leaning in, not stopping for a single moment. They let out a few muffled, soft sounds, clearly enjoying it.

Ryoji got so caught up in it that he completely forgot how big of a problem this usually was for him. He smiled into yet another kiss when he realized how natural this finally felt. This is what kissing is about, isn't it?

They separated with a gasp a while later and were breathing out heavily at the lack of air. Minato still had his hands cupping his cheeks, and he lightly stroked one of them with his thumb.

..Ryoji couldn't take it anymore. His hand ran up to his face, and he lifted up the scarf covering his eyes. And.. he was met with the sweetest sight.

Minato was a blushing mess in his arms. He was staring into his eyes, still letting out labored breaths. Did he look like that the entire time..? And, oh god. Actually seeing him snuggled up on his lap.. Well. Ryoji liked it very much.

"..Think you don't need the scarf anymore?" The boy asked quietly. There was a clear, teasing tone in his voice.

Ryoji smiled at that. He looked him up and down again, and placed his hands on Minato's hips to bring him closer.

"I think I don't. Though we probably wouldn't have gotten this far without it."

Minato leaned in closer, chuckling fondly to himself.

"Let's test that then, shall we?" He whispered.

..And before he knew it, Ryoji found himself lost in another batch of sweet kisses. This time, he didn't even think about pulling back. Not even when Minato pulled him down by the collar of his shirt.

That day, Ryoji figured that passionately making out with your boyfriend in his bed was something he could very quickly get used to.
