Summary
The man — Henry — laughs, a look of surprised delight brightening his features. “I’ve got to head in soon, Alex, but perhaps I can tell you when the show is over?”
He holds out the cigarette like an offering, and Alex steps into his space and takes it, sliding his fingers along the back of Henry’s hand a touch longer than necessary. He searches Henry’s eyes for an answer to the bold questions burning on the tip of his tongue alongside the smoke. “I’d like that very much.”
“Good.” Henry takes one more drag from the cigarette Alex is still holding, cool fingertips guiding Alex’s hand to his mouth with a light touch. “Let me take you back inside then. I’ll meet you right here after the encore.”
Alex swallows hard. “Can’t wait.”
