Chapter Text

Chapter 1

5.40am

Waking up in the mornings was probably one of the hardest things Satori Tendou had to do. He wasn’t exactly a morning person but he never stayed up incredibly late either but he hated mornings with a passion.

Today was Sunday 2nd September. It was Tendou’s last day at home before he had to head back to the dorms for school tomorrow, he was planning to leave for the dorms at 7:30pm so he wanted to make the most out of this day before it was over.

However, Satori wasn’t looking forward to it. It was a Sunday which meant his dad was home, his dad made everything less fun for him.

Satori wouldn’t necessarily say his dad was a bad person or even a bad dad but he did have some serious problems that he needed to sort out.

Satori turned over in his bed to look over at the time. His phone read 5:40am, Tendou had no idea how he even managed to wake up that early without an alarm, Damn his body clock is fucked.

He turned back over onto his bed, lying on his back and facing the ceiling. He didn’t want to get up but he didn’t want to stay in bed. He hated being lazy or even feeling lazy, if he didn’t do anything before 9:00am he considered himself lazy.

Satori decided it would be better to just get up so he wouldn’t have to fight all his inner thoughts about being lazy.

He sat himself up in bed then shuffling to the edge and putting his feet on the floor, pushing himself up with his hands. He practically stumbled outta bed, he was not physically ready to get out of bed yet but if he stayed in bed any longer his thoughts would take over his mind.

He stumbled out of his room and into the kitchen trying to be as quiet as he possibly could. He slowly walks into the kitchen on his tippy toes to make less noise. He reaches the kitchen and starts getting things out to make breakfast. He shouldn’t be eating breakfast this early in the morning but he skipped dinner last night and didn’t think he could wait till later.

Satori grabbed a bowl out of one of the cupboards
And placed it gently on the counter top, he then went into another cupboard and grabbed his fav box of cereal. He then poured it into the bowl and added the milk.(Yall know how to make cereal this isn’t important.) he then went and sat on the dining room table and began to eat his breakfast.

As he was eating he would sometimes look up from his bowl to check if anyone was there but by doing that he would always catch a glimpse of himself in the mirror on the wall above the table.

Tendou mostly forgot what he looked like with his hair down, well he forgot what he looked like full stop. Every mirror in the house that didn’t belong to his mother he broke.

He hated how he looked. He always has, but now he was in his third year of high school he hides it more He didn’t want ushijima asking a lot of questions about it, like he loved ushijima honestly but sometimes he was too much with the question asking.

Tendou hated looking at himself in the mirror bc he hated what he saw. He didn’t care if people said he was handsome or pretty, he never saw that, he always saw something else A lizard?, A monster? He didn’t even know what he saw.

Satori was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a door creak. Satori jumped out of his seat and grabbed his spoon and held it out like a weapon.

He shook violently as he heard footsteps walking towards the kitchen. Still holding his spoon in his hand out and in front of him Satori began to walk toward the hallway.

Satori was panicking as he saw a shadow on the wall walking towards him. Tendou was prepared to attack whoever this was. As the mysterious figure turned the corner Tendou jumped up to scare them.

He heard a scream that sounded pretty familiar. He opened his eyes to be greeted but the wonderful sight of his mother. Tendou Sighed in relief.

“SATORI, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, YOU SCARED THE SHITT OUTTA ME!!!” Mrs Tendou screamed frailing her arms around like a ragdoll.

“OMG MOM, IM SO GLAD ITS YOU I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE!!” Satori yelled with just as much terror as his mother did.

Tendou’s mother puts her hand on her chest to let her breathing go back to normal after that little spook from her son.

“Mom I’m so sorry oh my god! Are you okay?” Satori said with still such volume to his voice.

“It’s okay Satori, I’m fine. What’s my handsome son doing up so early anyway”. She said with such concern. Satori sighed. He hated it when she called him that. He knew it was just a coverup for what she was actually thinking and he hated it.

“I don’t know, my shitty body clock” Satori said with a small smile on his face. His mother looked at him concerned again. “Are you sure hunny?,you never get up early” she said looking at him.

“Yh mam I’m sure, it’s just my body clock” he said starting to look more bored by the second.
“Okay hunny, well I heard a noise and woke up to it so I thought I’d come and check it out” she said with a wide smile on her face.

Satori sighed and walked back into the kitchen to finish his cereal on the table. Satori walked over to the table and sat down. As he looked down at his bowl of cereal realising it was soggy.
Satori hated soggy cereal. He hated everything about it. He hated the taste, the texture, the smell and even the look of it, it all looked so wrong to him and he hated it.
Satori stood up out of his seat, picked up the bowl of cereal and walked over to the sink, putting in there. Satori would usually wash up his bowl him self but he truly hated everything about soggy cereal and he didn’t even want to go near it. He didn’t want to put himself in a meltdown again.
As Satori made his way out of the kitchen and into his bedroom his phone made a noise.
He looked at his phone and saw a notification from Ushijima.

Ushijima🐄: good morning Tendou(sent at 6:00am)

Ushijima texted Tendou every day at the same times, if he missed them times he wouldn’t get a text at all. Ushijima works mainly off of schedules, he doesn’t do anything with out them. He does the same routine everyday at set times.

Tendou looked up to Ushijima for that. Tendou loved having set time and or schedules but he never followed them. He would try to follow them but end up missing something and going into a full on melt down, so he just gave up and just wings it.

Tendou clocked out of his thoughts and clicked on the notification to reply.

Tendou❤️🏐: Morning Tooshi, did you sleep well?

As soon as Tendou sent his message three dots appeared showing Ushijima was typing.

Ushijima🐄: I slept very well, thanks for asking, you?
Tendou❤️🏐: Nicely thanks, although I did get up pretty early for no reason.

Ushijima🐄:Oh well that’s odd you normally sleep in on Sundays. I got up and did my run at 5

Tendou❤️🏐: Yh ikr I’m bummed I didn’t get to sleep in. I did just try to eat something tho, I didn’t really like it that much.

Ushijima🐄: Oh what was it?

Tendou❤️🏐: Oh just cereal, it went all soggy.

Ushijima🐄: Oh I hate that, I dislike Soggy cereal very much. Anyway sorry to leave but I need to brush my teeth and eat, I’ll text back when I’m done.

Tendou read the text from Ushijima then clicked off of his phone putting it in his back pocket, making his way back into his bedroom.
