Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

The first thing that tips Laudna off that something is up, is that Ashton has developed a quite intense relationship with a notebook. They’ve never been the studious type and, frankly, they’re not one to be journaling about their feelings, but who is she to judge?

The second thing that pulls Laudna’s attention is that he’s developed a rather disquieting habit of staring at her. Like, all the time. With their notebook at the ready. Sometimes he writes something down with a grin. Other times, they tuck the notebook back into the chest pocket of their denim jacket and he looks pouty and disappointed.

The third thing? Imogen seems to know what’s up, if her little huffs of indignation whenever he notes something down are anything to go by. If the tightening of Imogen’s jaw and the tapping of her fingers against her thigh aren’t related to whatever’s going on, well, Laudna will wear white for a week.

She narrows her eyes, flicking her inquisitive gaze between Imogen and Ashton. She settles into Imogen’s arm around her.

This will require further investigation.
