Chapter Text
"Hurry up, Teddy! You're going to make us late!" Felix yelled after his twin brother, already sitting in the car and waiting impatiently for his brother in the backseat.
"Sorry, Felix!" Ted rushed out of the rather expensive looking house, backpack draped messily over one shoulder as he threw it into the backseat of the car and hopped in after it.
Felix scoffed at his brother's foolishness, ordering their personal driver to start driving as soon as Ted closed the car door. Felix glanced over at his twin who was huffing and puffing completely out of breath. His hair looked messy and unbrushed and his backpack didn't even look fully packed.
The harsher of the twins narrowed his eyes at the other, "What in the devils has gotten you so worked up this morning? You look like an absolute mess!"
Ted jumped and gave Felix a suspiciously nervous smile, "O-Oh, um- I just uh.. forgot to set my alarm! It won't happen again, Felix." He stuttered out, looking happy with his answer.
Felix's eyes stayed narrowed at his brother, not buying it for a minute. There was something else going on here...
As Ted turned to look out the window, admiring all of the passing buildings and trees, Felix's gaze lowered down to his bag again. It was zipped open, showing quite a few missing books and toys that were usually supposed to be in there, but something else caught Felix's eye.
Also inside of the bag was a bunch of flowers. They looked like they were ripped out of the garden in their backyard (Ooh, Father wouldn't be pleased to hear about that!). The question was, why? Why would Ted have a bunch of flowers in his backpack? He didn't ever participate in science, so he certainly didn't need it for any sort of plant-based assignment.
Felix hummed quizzically as he turned his gaze back to Ted, "Teddy, why in the devil's great court do you have a bunch of flowers from Daddy's garden in your backpack?" Ted froze up, "He wouldn't be very pleased to learn of this information."
Ted turned to his twin with pleading eyes and a quivering lip, "Please, PLEASE don't tell father, Felix! He'll be so mad!"
Felix crossed his arms, "Then you must tell me why you have them."
Ted's face went red as he averted his gaze from his brother, "I... I don't think I want to..."
Felix's face morphed into a hard glare, "Teddy..."
Ted's gaze still was glued to the floor of the car, "It's n-nothing! I swear!"
"Theodore..."
Ted didn't respond this time, face still red as he stared down silently.
There was an awkward pause that lingered on for a bit too long before Felix got fed up with it and launched forward, grabbing ahold of Ted's backpack as the sweeter twin yelped and tried to take it back from him.
"Felix! Let go!" He attempted to pull his backpack out of his brother's grasp, but Felix pulled back harder, "I just need to see what's so important about these dumb flowers! You're hiding something and I know it!"
"N-no I'm not!" Ted protested again. Felix grit his teeth as anger overtook his mindset and he yelled out without thinking, "GET YOUR GRUBBY, PATHETIC LITTLE HANDS AWAY FROM KIDD!"
That made Ted loosen his grip on his backpack, allowing Felix to snatch it in his arms. "What? What are you talking about, Felix?" He said it with such genuine confusion that made Felix feel extremely silly for his assumption outburst.
While Ted was distracted by his outburst, Felix quickly pushed away his embarrassment and opened up his brother's backpack, quickly scanning around the interior of it. Ted yelped and tried to get it back, but Felix held his face back with his free hand.
Finally, Felix's eyes landed on what they were looking for.
A small cut-out picture of one of their schoolmates, Ozzy Starborne, from his yearbook buried underneath all of the flowers.
Felix stared in confusion at the picture until his newly embarrassed brother ripped the backpack away from him and zipped it up, setting it down below him and staring out the window silently.
The harsher of the two twins gave his brother a mixed look; somewhere between utterly confused and completely weirded out.
"Are you courting Oswald?" Felix asked his brother, who shot around and held his hands up frantically, "No no no no no! We aren't... together!" He laughed nervously. "....not yet." He added quietly, blushing a bright red.
Felix raised his eyebrow curiously. He never figured his brother to be attracted to the same gender, but it didn't surprise him. He was more startled by the fact that is was Ozzy of all people. Despite his mom owning a fairly successful company that rivaled theirs, Ozzy was a stand-offish, awkward, anxious specimen, a commoner. And Teddy had a crush on him?
"Well, that's surprising..." Felix murmured, causing Ted to further shrink down into his seat. "Though, I should inform you that you're doing it all wrong."
The sweeter twin perked up and looked at his brother, puzzled, "Huh? What do you mean?"
Felix tsked disappointingly and shook his head, "Well for starters, you're using plain looking flowers covered in dirt with their roots still attached to impress him. That simply won't do."
Ted looked down, a little sad, "Oh, well I thought Ozzy liked plants..."
"Now now, do not fret, Teddy. You just need some guidance from the schools best wingman!" Felix boasted, puffing his chest out proudly.
Ted gave him a curiously excited look, "Oh! Who?"
Felix groaned, "I mean me, Teddy. Blimey, I couldn't have been more obvious about it!" He pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, "This is why you're in the dumb class..."
"Oh, sorry, Felix." The other twin muttered.
"Now enough of that, allow me to show you the correct way to woo your crush!" He pronounced. There was a moment of silence as Ted looked at him expectedly. "....Once we arrive at school, that is."
After just a little while more of driving, the car stopped at their school and their driver opened the door for them, Ted uttering a quick 'thank you' before the two twins got to the front.
Ted's eyes immediately locked on Ozzy, who was already waiting behind the front stairs, tugging his sleeves and pacing around anxiously. Ted's face formed a small smile at the boy who just looked ever so cute to him. He hoped after this experience, they could talk more, or perhaps hang out more. They could hold hands and eat lunch together and-
"Hey! Teddy!" Felix snapped his fingers in front of Ted, which broke him free of his daze. "Pay attention, loverboy!"
Felix knelt down in the grass and presented a large, green flower with various petals. "This flower is big and pretty, which represents your admiration for Ozzy. Plus it matches his eyes." He then carefully dug his hands around the flower and scooped it up from the soil, brushing the excess dirt off of it and pulling out the roots to make it look better.
Felix handed Ted the flower carefully, "Take this to Ozzy and tell him your feelings. He'll be sure to accept.
Ted looked down at the flower in his hands. "Uh, Felix? I don't think-"
He was cut off, "Nonsense, Teddy! As the most qualified wingman, I know this will work."
"But Ozzy is-"
"Who's in the smart class again, Teddy?"
"....You are."
"Exactly! Now, do as I say and bring this to Ozzy." Felix used his hand to slick back Ted's hair and fixed his tie before pushing him towards Ozzy's direction.
Ted's insides were fluttering and his legs felt wobbly, but Felix always knew best, so with a heavy sigh, he held the flower close to his chest and made his way towards Ozzy.
Ozzy, still anxiously pacing around, looked up when he noticed Ted approaching.
"Oh, hi Ted." He greeted, his voice strained and anxious like it usually was.
Ted gulped, "H-Hi, Ozzy. Uh.." He held out the flower, offering a smile to the shaky ginger, "This is for you. I've been wanting to tell you so-"
He was abruptly cut off by a loud scream, making him jump back while everyone else there turned to see what was happening.
"IS THAT- IS THAT-" Ozzy stuttered out, his breathing sharp and heavy, "A GREEN FLOWER?!?!"
He staggered backwards, shaking like a leaf while he tried to control his breathing. "IM ALLERGIC TO GREEN FLOWERS! YOU KNOW THIS, OUR CLASS WENT OVER IT!!"
Ted quickly threw the green flower to the side, walking closer to Ozzy, "Oh my god, Ozzy, I'm so sorry! Here-" He tried to come forward, but Ozzy pushed him away.
"GET AWAY FROM ME! IM HAVING AN ASTHMA.." He took large, shaky breaths, "I NEED MY INHALER!!"
In a panic, Ted rushed over to Ozzy's backpack, which was set nearby on the ground, and dug through it to find his inhaler. He gave it to Ozzy, who snatched it out of his hands quickly and turned away, using it as his breathing slowly calmed down.
The Principal rushed over, asking what happened as Ted guiltily explained the situation as Ozzy curled up into a ball on the ground.
After a little more talking, Ozzy was pulled inside early and Ted was sent off with his head hung low and study hall during lunch. All the other kids quickly lost interest after they realized the situation, but they were still puzzled as to why Ted of all people would expose Ozzy to a green flower, knowing full well he was allergic.
Ted walked back sadly to his brother, who was crossing his arms disappointingly.
"What was that?!" Felix shouted immediately as the other approached, making him wince. "How did you mess it up that bad?"
"But it wasn't me! Ozzy's allergic to green flowers!" Ted defended.
His twin's eye twitched in frustration, "And why didn't you tell me that EARLIER?!"
"I tried to, but you wouldn't let me!" Ted tried countering again, but his brother just waved him off.
"Whatever, we can try again later. After-" He was cut off by the bell, in which he sighed, "..After morning time. Let's go."
As the two walked among the crowd of kids trying to get into the school, Felix turned around to face his brother again, "Oh, and father won't be too pleased to hear about your study hall time."
He turned back around and continued walking as Ted stayed behind, hugging his arms in fear before running to catch up with his brother.
