“Shut up and Kiss Me”/Hidden Relationship
“I’m unsure about this.” Jaune muttered as he looked around the room.
“What?” Ruby replied blankly, with a confused look on her face.
Jaune’s hands were considerably clammy as he held Ruby’s in his own. His gaze had traveled all around, noticing all the different people that occupied the space. Some he knew, and some he did not. The uncomfortable environment only seemed to escalate his anxiety as he cleared his throat to respond.
“I just don’t know, Ruby.” He re-affirmed, now trying to whisper to not cause a scene. “There’s a lot of eyes that are on us.”
Again, all Ruby could do at this moment as she looked around the room herself, was blink with perplexity at how the boy was acting.
In her defense, she knew Jaune could be… well, he could be rather dense when it came to things. Heck, she was no better with routine issues people their ages dealt with. However, there was no excuse for this one.
“Jaune, you do know where we are, right?”
“Of course, Ruby.”
“And you realize what we just said to each other as well?”
“Yes, I know. I’m not an idiot.”
Oh Jaune, I am not sure about that one.
The silence in the room turned to vocal whispers, something that was now beginning to embarrass the red head. If there wasn’t something to be done soon, people would talk, and then they would also think there was some sort of scandal going on.
Being the quick thinker that she was, she peeked her head to the side of Jaune, motioning to the person to acknowledge her.
“Ren, would you mind—”
“I’m on it, Ruby.”
Jaune flinched slightly as he felt Ren tap him on the shoulder. Before he could react, the black-haired boy began whispering to him. It only took a few moments, but then, realization showered over Jaune’s face as the boy behind him once again moved a step backwards.
Ruby watched impatiently as his eyes returned her, rather than surveilling all those around the crowded space. He chuckled slightly as he had grasped why she was showing such a vacant, but annoyed expression.
“S-Sorry, I’ve uh, never been to one of these.”
“Jaune… shut up an kiss me.”
“Yes ma’am.”
And with that, the boy pulled her closer, their bodies meeting as their eyes stayed upon one another. Slowly, her lips brushed his, softly, delicately, like butterfly wings, just long enough that he could inhale her breath, and feel the warmth of her skin.
It was short-lived, but impactful, just as it needed to be.
“And with that, please join me in congratulating the newlyweds. Mr. and Mrs. Rose-Arc!” The man from the other side of them two declared.
The whispering crowd immediately erupted into a frenzy of cheers and clapping as both Ruby and Jaune turned to face them. The blonde could only cheese as he lifted his hands in the air to join said celebration, something the shorter girl did as well.
Before either could walk away, Weiss silently snuck up on Ruby, hugging her from behind. Ruby could only assume it was her based on the frame no bigger than her own that engulfed her. She was met with confirmation once she spoke to her in a teasing voice.
“Remember now, it’s for better or for worse. Good luck.”
Yeah, I might need it.
