One thing many people don't consider when people get conditions like the one that Marinette has is that the weather and everything that comes with it will have more of an effect on you. Honestly Marinette is not sure how she never put it together before. Weather is a key factor of the environment so when you have conditions of the body that react with your environment down to what you eat in a day of course the freakin weather will play along with that.
In Marinette's case it was simple. Heat = Good, Light Rain/Mid Temp = Fine, Storms/Cold = Bad. Or in other words the heat helps Marinette's joints feel less like they are breaking every single she moves and is actually sometimes able to get around more for short spans of time without her cane. The average stuff is just average. The cold and the storms? Well lets just say she can literally feel it in her body when those are about to come about.
She is a walking weather predictor in the worst way possible. Thankfully Marinette has made it to the summer so that way she is free for the most part of the things that make her body act that way. In fact she was taking a stroll in the park with Ariden without her cane (which is in her bag. She is not crazy enough to leave it at home) and enjoying her time without the cane.
Not that Marinette had hard feelings about using the mobility device. She understands why some people will have that reaction but she had quite the opposite. Marinette had gone a good 6 months without the cane and therefore Marinette couldn't really do anything because she could barely walk to the kitchen let alone go outside. That was when her doctor suggested a cane to use. She was not enfuisanastic nor deterited.
All Marinette could think was that this might help. And God did it. Marinette finally felt free again after thinking that she had lost all sense of freedom. She can move. She can go places. She can do things. Is Marinette still in pain? Yes, but that doesn't stop her anymore. The boost it gave her was undeniable.
Though there were the looks and the whispers whenever she showed up anyway. Eyes searching for the reason why she was using a cane, while some brave people come and give their condolences about her having it at such a young age. Yes she felt weird whenever people did that but after a while one gets used to it. Now instead looking awkward she just explains a little bit about it. Hopefully giving them ideas so others like her that dont feel comfortable with that or it is much more of a sore topic don't have to. Sure it is small but Marinette likes to think that maybe it will help just a little.
Marinette would rather make herself feel a little uncomfortable in hopes of someone understanding then having someone who is more uncomfortable having to deal with it. Guess the Ladybug in her never leaves huh?
The one she really does not mind is the little kids since they usually are just curious.
But now when she is able to walk around with her boyfriend living her life, though very different from what she expected, Marinette can't think of anything else she would rather be.
Would she love to be out of this horrible pain with even worse side effects of the medications? Yes. But isnt she allowed to be happy with her life and where she is?
Marinette should not have to feel less fullifed because of the things that have happened to her by chance. Sure it derailed some of her plans but she found other ways or other things that she likes more.
She is allowed to be happy even with her circumstances. Even if it looks a little different.
