Being museum exhibits, you would think that they would be bored, but that might not be the case all the time. So as a break (and at first a way to make sure the west and Rome cooperated along with the civil war bros) Larry had started a bi-weekly movie night, completely optional but most of the exhibits loved to come to each one
Like the two leaders of the dioramas, Nicky had made areas for the miniatures so everyone is comfortable so they kept to one while the rest piled into the other spaces, usually leaving the leaders with a bit of privacy, Jedediah found it odd at first but quickly grew to love the alone time with the specific roman, not for any reason of course! Just best friend stuff!
Yeah- yeah, best friends, nothing more to it.
Anyway, this week's movie night was going swimmingly, the movie was nice, not all that interesting but nice to have on. Octavius suppressed a yawn because they were only 15 minutes into the movie and it's not like he could sleep out in public anyway, he could barely sleep back in Rome comfortably enough to actually rest.
“Y'know, if you took off all that metal gettup you would probably be a lot more comfortable” Jedediah said, bugging Octavius about his armor for the thousandth time. The general was going to argue but he just sighed, taking off the armor and laying it in a neat pile beside them “better?” He asked
The cowboy gave him a crooked grin and wrapped an arm around his shoulders “there ya go! Much better” Octavius rolled his eyes but shifted closer, Jed had laid his hand back in his lap as he watched the movie.
The cowboy had consistently interrupted to tell Octavius about things, some related some not, but the general smiled and nodded sleepily, over the course of the movie he had gotten extremely exhausted.
And Jedediah was so warm….he's right there too…he smelt nice as well…
Jed had felt a weight on his shoulder in the middle of ranting about something, Octavius had fell asleep “really? I ain't that boring, am I?” He asked aloud but it seemed the general was out. He had waved his hand in front of the others face, snapping a few times while calling his name but nope, nothin'.
Annoyed but slightly amused Jedediah shifted so they were both comfortable, leaning onto the wall with Octavius tucked into his side, head placed slightly into the crook of his neck. Jed had tried to ignore the annoying fuzzy feeling he felt as best he could.
Sometime later the cowboy subconsciously ran his hands in the others curly hair ‘ its softer than I thought ’ he thought to himself as he looked down at the general. Octavius had leaned slightly into his touch, a content sigh leaving his lips before turning into a slight, soft smile. Jedediah swore he forgot how to breathe at that moment, how could he ignore these feelings when Octavius was right there and so fucking cute?!
Blushing furiously, Jed continued to thread his hands in the others hair, playing with it as the movie progressed, eventually finishing.
Many exhibits went to go back for the night to do other things, some stayed to talk or clean up, usually Jed and Oct were the ones that leave but…i guess they could stay a little longer. The cowboy smiled to himself, humming while looking around, a group of miniatures, two of Octavius’s soldiers and a few cowboys came up
“Howdy Jed, you alright there? Seems like your suck” the group (well the cowboys at least) chuckled “oh shut, I'm fine, guess Ol Octy’s just gettin' bored of me” he joked
The cowboys looked at the soldiers who just stared at the general, wide eyed “I'm not insane, right? You see this too, correct?” One said to the other “I see it, I- huh” Jed was mighty confused “what are y'all on about?” He asked
“Well…General Octavius never really sleeps, he rarely ever takes off a night the hours of sleep he gets in a month are in the single digits, and that's in Rome, in a bedroom, completely guarded you could probably sell water to a drowning man faster and easier than getting the general to sleep” One of the duo started to explain
“-so” the other continued “seeing the general sleep, in a place so open no less, is sort of odd. You must be very close with the general to make him feel so safe” Jed didn't know if it was the wording or if it was the action but he felt his heart pounding in his chest “o-oh” he was sure the others could see his blush
And the fact that Octavius had shifted so that his face was buried deep in the crook of his neck, his hands softly resting on the others chest was not helping
He hoped Octavius had a good nap either way, though
