"31 missed calls from Sideswipe"
That was displaying on her muted phone. Ignoring the havoc the poor phone was creating, she was laying on the couch, looking at the ceiling while television was talking about daily news. Do you blame her though? Spending your whole life denying and lying to yourself about your own feelings, just when it all started to become normal and easier, somebody comes and shoves the reality to your face.
The loud and clear banging on the door knocked her train of thoughts... "Coming..." she said while reluctantly getting off the warm and cozy couch. She opens the door and the mess of her life greets her. Though, he looked like he's been through a lot trying to find her! Oof... that stench and everything!
She gave him a puzzled look, and said "Hi" in a tone as if he was the one who had to say that. She let him in none the less, poor guy was definitely not joking around today! "Want me to bring you some water?" Strongarm said, keeping her cool, being polite, and keeping her manners! As a good person should.
A few seconds of awkward silence felt like few years of awkward silence indeed. Sideswipe thankfully broke the silence... "So... are you any better today?" Uh oh. "What do you mean? I wasn't feeling down at all." She said, "Right! You were ghosting me for a whole week. Did I do something wrong, or...?" Sideswipe questioned carefully and nervously all at the same time, as if he was scared of what he might hear next "Primus, I'm so sorry, Sideswipe. I didn't mean to, but I needed some time to myself. I let you in, didn't I now?" She said, smiling innocently, Sideswipe knew that was a good sign. He curled his lips to the side and caught his ProfessionalThinker™️ face. That made her smile, she always had a soft spot for his stupidity. Now she realized it... fully and physically. What Prowl meant, what she was thinking about and trying to deny this whole week. It all made sense now. It was the time, she had to talk!
"Side, there's something I would like to tell you." She started, "Dokie!" He agreed and looked at her expectantly. "So, this whole week of me being with myself and all... I've been thinking." Good start, Strongarm! "You... hmm, you make me feel sick." Not good. Sideswipe took a confused look on his face "Uhhhhhhhh... yeah, sure, thanks a lot.." He tried to get up and leave, but she forced him to listen. "Okay, I might have messed it up! Please, just listen you little twit!" He sat where he belonged and went back to listening, skeptically. "What I meant by 'sick' is that... I don't know, your whole presence is annoying, but your absence is way more annoying. When you're not there, I keep looking for you, whether I want it or not!" She paused and looked at his reaction, he was a bit puzzled and less skeptical. "What are you trying to tell me?" Sideswipe said, wanted to know the whole point of this, right there and right now...
"So, you're telling me, you have a high school kind of crush on me?" Sideswipe said while holding back his laughter... and ohhhh, poor Strongarm who just made another misunderstanding. She nods in agreement anyways, cause what else could she do? Sideswipe hummed and had a small light bulb light up above his head, that means an idea! "We're going to make you hate me!" He said and sprinted outside without saying farewells, leaving Strongarm in complete confusion of "what just happened all of a sudden?"
Days come and go, the two didn't see much of each other like they did before. Sideswipe becoming less and less visible, and he was spotted he acted tired and busy. She wondered what he was actually planning this time, she already admitted that it was hurting her but she also knew it was a part of his mischievous plan. So she decided to just end it all. She went to his house and knocked, "Side? You there? We need to talk!" Then suddenly another female transformer opened the door, looked at her innocently. She was noticeably shorter than her, white being her main color with professionally done crimson paint job. "Hey, may I help you?" The new female said, faking Strongarm's accent. "Uhm... may I talk to Sideswipe, please?" She was snapped back to present when she spoke, but she hid her confusion as much as she could. "Sure," Strongarm smiled at that, "Honey~ someone's seeking to see you~!" She heard and she audibly whispered "what"
After a whole painful half a minute, he finally came out to greet her. "Hello, Strongarm. Wanted to see me?" Sideswipe said in a fancy way. She couldn't help herself not to giggle at his new look. "What's it with you now?" She asked between her soft giggles. "Pardon? Do I look amusing to you?" Sideswipe said dead serious, that made her stop the giggles. "My wife seamed to like you." That was his last strike, ouch! "Your what now?" She asked in pure confusion, "Me and Astra got engaged last week, this Wednesday is our wedding. Care to join?" Sideswipe said, what the hell was that about? "What's the rush...?" Was all she could form out of her thoughts and questions. "We're going to move out, so we are in a hurry you could say." A deep silence filled the air, the two just stayed there staring at each other's eyes for a long time... "Do you hate me now?" Sideswipe said looking at her, "No... in fact, I feel like it got worse." She started, but this time no more misunderstandings. "Definitely not a high school crush, Sideswipe. This needs to end, I don't hate you. Not even one bit, not even close to hatred." Sideswipe listened carefully, until he put his soft smile and put a hand on her shoulder, "You don't have to bear this feeling alone. Still kind of early to say those three words, but... I can't not say that I feel the same!" Sideswipe can be harsh, annoying, arrogant even sometimes... but he could also be as kind as a pillow.
They were walking down the busy roads and sidewalks on Cybertron. That was their usual routine, go on a walk together, they would sometimes go on a walk together too as Sideswipe suggests, but she would always win the argument. "Come to think of it, who was that 'wife' of yours?" She broke the comfortable silence, wanting to hear his voice, "Oh, she was my bestie, an absolute sweetheart. Astra likes girls, you shouldn't be worried about her snatching me." She giggled at that. "Side, you're tribble! Anyhow, I'm glad I could finally show what I meant." Sideswipe gave her a fake skeptical look, "I knew what you meant from the beginning! You are too obvious for your own well being sometimes." He let out a laugh "What? Then why did you make me go through all this?!" She was shocked, until she wasn't anymore "Ah, of course. You wanted to get a laugh out of this." He smiled at that, she knew him too well. "Now, where's the fun in just going out telling you that you're wrong about your feelings?" He used his most innocent voice to say those words, "Yep, the good old Sideswipe I know and love."
They stopped in front of their favorite spot, looking at the horizon while the suns of Cybertron were setting for a good night, kissing each other for the first time.
After all, it's good to have someone watching your back...
