“You’re a very pretty birdie, you know.” The voice said, smooth and light and oh so very disingenuous. As the voice spoke, a finger the size of his entire being brushed against his wings, causing a harsh shiver to roll down Grian’s back.
The voice didn’t stop. “So, so pretty. So small. You deserve so much better. Something your old owner could never give to you.” The voice cooed. The fingers pulled harshly on one of his wings, contradicting the sweet voice and words.
Grian tried not to listen. His captor was doing nothing but fawning. It didn’t mean any of it. Well, maybe it did, but not in the way Grian would like it. It was demeaning, especially the way it mentioned his ‘owner’.
Scar was far from his owner. He was his friend and he missed him more than anything.
“Oh, pretty bird, don’t cry.” The voice said and the words were what made Grian realize he was crying in the first place. The fingers lifted off his wings and instead filled his vision, rubbing gently underneath his eyes to get rid of said tears. “You’re safe.” Another lie.
Grian stayed still, refusing to give the thing what it wanted. He refused to speak, to move, to give in to this charade it was trying to perform.
His captor hummed. A low, familiar sound. But something that sounded oh so wrong.
“Look at me birdie.” The voice said, a command that made Grian tense. No, he refused. He couldn’t look, he didn’t want to look. “Come on, don’t be shy.” The voice cooed again and the fingers that were still close to his face turned from gentle to harsh as the fingers gripped his head and forced him to look up.
More tears streamed down Grian’s face as he was forced to look at his captor.
Scar’s smiling face stared back at him.
But the smile was wrong. It was too big, too large and it wasn’t genuine but malicious. Before now, Grian could never have even imagined a look like that on Scar’s face.
Scar titled his head in such a quick way, Grian swore he heard a bone crack. The smile never left. “There we go. You’re even prettier now that I can see your face.” The thing wearing Scar’s face chuckled.
Grian steeled himself. “You…You won’t break me.”
Not-Scar tilted his head again, this time to the other side. “I won’t? Well, that’s a bold claim.” Not-Scar giggled and the sound that once made Grian want to laugh along now grated upon his ears. He finally let go of Grian’s face and lifted his hand to tap on his head. “He has so much information on you in here. Every fear, every weakness…”
Grian felt his reslove slipping with each word.
“You know, he really did love you.” The past tense was like a punch in the gut. But Grian refused to believe he was gone. He couldn’t be. Scar was strong. “Which just makes this all so much more fun .” The hand holding him closed around him, trapping him in a too tight grip. His wings between fingers that squeezed too hard, causing pain and lack of air.
He was lifted up, squirming and trying his best to push the hand away. The hand that once held him gently now causing him the most pain he had ever felt.
“I’m going to break you so much that he’ll hate himself.” A finger caressed the side of his face. One last gentle touch. “I’ll make sure he watches all of this. I’ll make sure he can feel it when I break you beyond repair. I’ll make sure he knows this was all. His. Fault.” The pain was becoming too much, with each word the pressure around his body increased. Grian couldn’t take it much longer. “If only he was stronger.”
Not-Scar smirked. “Oh well.” And then he used all his strength and squeezed.
Crack.
Grian screamed.
