When Scott heard of his friends deaths he told himself it was fine. After all they weren’t really dead. They’d been reborn.
He heard they didn’t approve of his “evilness” now. And… and that didn’t matter. It didn’t! Vampires were solitary creatures, it wasn't like he was enjoying having people like him around or anything. He’d keep doing what he’d always done. He was a vampire after all! The very sustenance he needed to live was a passage of evil!
He told himself it was fine. He continued his builds and ignored the tension building in his muscles. The ache at his fingertips. Wait… why?
His chest constricted and pressure built behind his eyes giving him a migraine. Ugh! He must be getting sick! Vampires could get sick right? It’s not… well he knew vampires physically couldn’t cry but… he wasn't upset!
He threw his tools down with a huff and headed to his coffin early.
What a waste of a perfectly good night!
He growled as he stalked to his mansion. Realising his posture he straightened and shook away his anger.
Head held high he forced himself to calm down as he reached his front door. Going upstairs his cat gave her usual greeting hiss of annoyance as he opened his coffin and lay down.
“We all love your sassiness Zar but not today thank you.” He closed his eyes.
Zar meowed and leapt back onto the coffin. Opening his eye at her rumbling she did something she’d never done before, she lay on his chest…
Scott’s breath froze in his lungs. Mind stumbling before settling on, aww…
He brought a hand up slowly to pet her head. She had always been standoffish but now she reluctantly let him card her fur.
Scotts sighed and picked his breathing up again. A steady rhythm that rocked Zar up and down as his chest moved.
If he was exaggerating his breath work to bring her comfort (because vampire’s chests didn’t move when they breathed) then no one needed to know.
Slipping into a semblance of ease and comfort Scott closed his eyes. He never had gotten over his adoration for cute things. He was thankful that at least someone had gotten over their ridiculous fear of him.
He fell asleep with a warmth in his chest that came from more than just the cat lying on him.
Scott was off his game. Attempting to clean the mess his former friends had made, Lauren of all people was attempting to join his league of one.
“Fine. I want you to steal something from Joel. You know, just to test your loyalty~” He said.
In all honesty he didn’t have high hopes for her. Joel was a giant in his current life and Lauren was clumsy. If she slipped up (which he expected of her) then Joel would obliterate her for entering his grounds.
It would be one less thing on his mind if she moved on from the ridiculous notion of joining him but low and behold she had surprised him.
Coming up upon her talking to a caged Lizzie, Scott couldn’t fathom how his instructions had taken such a stray course.
“Lauren!” He called as he leaped to her side. “What are you doing?!”
“Joel!” Lizzie cried out as Joel’s giant form approached them.
Scott eased backwards as the giant’s gaze took everyone in. This was not an enemy he wanted.
“I stole Joel’s most prized possession Scott!” Lauren explained excitedly.
“Lizzie?!” He asked.
“Yeah! Joel’s wife!” Lauren beamed.
Oh no…
Joel came before the cage and seemed to be listening to the conversation taking place.
“Hey Joel!” Lizzie greeted happily. “Have you come to save me?”
“Umm.” Joel looked over her uncertainly. “What… are you?”
Scott perked up at his odd reaction and maneuvered to see for himself what form Lizzie had taken.
Oh… She… hmm. This changed a few things.
Lizzie was a slimy looking alien. Green form almost transparent her expression shifted.
“Oh I’m human!” She nodded seemingly stressed. “A perfectly normal human who just likes slime!”
Scott narrowed his eyes at her lie. He knew humans and she was not one of them. Her smell was off, her skin was green. He’d never sink his fangs into a creature such as her and the prospect of her even having blood was slowly disappearing as she shrank into a quarter of her size.
“Oh!” Joel exclaimed surprised. “You just shrunk! How is that even possible?”
“Humans can shrink!” She said.
Scott sighed looking to Lauren. “What are you going to do now Lauren? You haven’t achieved anything if you just let her go. This was why I wanted you to steal a material object.”
Lauren’s face fell. “Oh, well…” She looked between the giant and her prisoner. “What if I kill her!” She asked summoning a lava bucket.
Scott cringed quickly looking for Joel’s reaction. The giant seemed preoccupied as he attempted to fathom his wife being an alien.
“That could work…” He whispered lowly.
Lauren’s face lit up as she teleported to the top of the cage.
“Lizzie!” She declared. “To prove I am one of the evilest people on this server you have to die!”
Pouring the lava in with no hesitation Scott watched in shock as Lizzie went up in flames in the corner of her cage.
“What?! Lauren no! Don’t do this!” Her last words echoed in surprise.
“Lizzie no!” Joel stepped forward but the alien had already dispersed to ashes. “What?!” He cried in confusion. “How did she die so fast?!”
“Ha Ha!” Lauren laughed. “Am I in the club now Scott? Am I evil enough?”
Scott eyed Joel cautiously. “Of course Lauren. A murder automatically gets you in.”
“Yes!” Lauren cried teleporting down in a vwoop. “I did it!” She did a little dance.
Pausing when she caught sight of the lava filled caged she mellowed a fraction. “Ooh…” She cringed. “Uh, you mad about this one Joel?”
Joel blinked out of his daze. “Huh?”
“Do I have to kill you too?” Lauren asked.
Joel straightened and glared at her. “No, don’t even attempt it Lauren.”
The heat in his voice caused her to back up a bit.
“You aren’t going to hold a grudge or anything right?” She fumbled to quickly check. “I mean she wasn’t even a human so it’s fine?”
Joel seemed to consider her words. “I want to stay out of your quarrels. Don’t come after me and we’ll be good.” He warned.
Lauren nodded quickly. “Of course!”
Joel took one last look at the cage and turned to walk off.
Scott took his opportunity to mark him with the brush of a hand. “Safe travels~” Scott smiled to the giant to cover up his action.
Joel glared at him then continued onward.
Once he was safely in the distance Scott sighed and turned to Lauren.
“That was risky Lauren. We don’t generally showcase our evil deeds to someone who poses a threat to us.”
Lauren nodded quickly. “Got it! Think about the consequences before they come after me. I honestly thought I was done for there!” She clutched her chest. “He could’ve taken my head off!”
Scott nodded. He hadn’t wanted to continue the villain’s league but it seemed to be up and running again. Lauren had done more trying to get in than any of his previous friends had done while in it.
He really didn’t want to replace them but Lauren had proven herself. He’d just have to get his head out of the gutter and see where things took him.
Lauren was a wild card… that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
