Candace, Perry, and Ducky Momo

Summary:

Candace is upset because she can't attend a Ducky Momo convention. When she admits this to Uncle Perry, he reveals that he also loves Ducky Momo and he can take her. They have a fun day together with lots of fluff and family bonding.

This is the first in a series of fics about Perry bonding with each of the Flynn-Fletchers.

Notes:

There's an outfit for Perry mentioned, and I just had to see it, so I took @owcaunion on tumblr's character sheet for human Perry and gave him a new outfit!

Work Text:

"Oh, hey Perry."

Hey kiddo, what's got you down in the dumps?

"Oh, I just- It's stupid, it doesn't matter."

Kid, I don't care if it's stupid, I'm the stupidest of all. Tell me.

"Well, there's this Ducky Momo convention happening at Danville Stadium, but mom can't take me, and I don't think I would fit in anyways. It's gonna be full of little kids, not teenagers. They'll think I'm lame!" She burst into tears at the last sentence.

Candace, I don't think that the people that like Ducky Momo are going to think you're lame for liking Ducky Momo. Besides, if you really are that worried, I'm sure that having a 40 year old man there beside you will make you look much cooler by comparison.

"You- You'll go with me!? Really?"

Of course, Candace. I know how much you care about this. Besides, who do you think was the one sitting next to you while you watched it? I love Ducky Momo.

"You do?"

Well, I did spend weeks tracking down an ultra limited edition Ducky Momo wallet. You know there are only 100 of those in the world, right?

"IT'S AN AUTHENTIC!? I THOUGHT YOU JUST BOUGHT A REPLICA!" You really went through all of that trouble for me and my stupid obsession?"

Well, if you didn't want it, I would've taken it for myself in a heartbeat.

Candace couldn't help but laugh at the image of her uncle in a boring beige office pulling out a Ducky Momo wallet. Perry smiled at the though of pulling it out in front of Heinz or Monogram.

C'mon, lets get ready. Don't bring anything you don't need so that we have room to carry all the stuff we're gonna buy!

Candace squealed and jumped from her chair, yelling, "Race you!" when she was already halfway down the hallway.

Perry used a bit more of his training than he perhaps should have and raced after her. He vaulted over the railing to the stairs and raced up the stairs. He threw himself into his attic room and threw on a pair of cargo shorts, a bright yellow crop top with Ducky Momo's face on the middle of it, a pair of yellow platform flip-flops, Ducky Momo dangly earrings, and a backpack with water, a small first aid kit, and a thin jacket.

Then, he jumped down from his room, slid down the banister, and landed in front of the door smugly.

Just a second later, Candace was racing out of her room in similar attire. Her usual skirt, a similar shirt to his, a Ducky Momo headband, Ducky Momo stud earrings, and a Ducky Momo purse.

She slid down the banister like he had taught her and landed nearly on top of Perry. He held onto her as she doubled over and tried to catch her breath.

"How...do you...do that."

Well, I have been going to the gym recently. Ask your mom if we can use the car.

"MOOOOOOOM, CAN ME AND UNCLE PERRY USE YOUR CAR?"

"GO AHEAD, HONEY. I'LL BE WORKING AROUND THE HOUSE ALL DAY."

They both rushed out of the door and into the car. Perry maneuvered the car out of the driveway while Candace was practically bouncing in her seat, putting on the Ducky Momo theme song.

They both bounced along to the song with grins on their faces as they made their way to the convention center.

Once they got there, they went in and started along the booths, looking for something that neither of the two of them had.

As they walked up to the next booth, which was full of bobbleheads, Perry spotted Monogram and Carl. They were looking at Ducky Momo bobblehead variation #7. He panicked for a moment, but then realized that he wasn't going to ruin today by being suspicious. If they were going to notice him, they were going to have to cover.

As it turns out, Ducky Momo bobblehead variation #7 was something they didn't have yet, so Perry walked up behind them and tapped the both of them on their shoulders.

"Ah! Agen-" He was cut off by Carl stomping on his foot.

"Perry! We weren't expecting to see you here."

Yeah, same to you. I used to watch it with my niece Candace. I still watch if I've had a bad night. He sends them an apathetic look and reaches past them to grab the bobblehead. Anyways, I've got to get going.

"Yes,...Perry. Have a good rest of your day." The words felt strange coming out of Monogram's mouth, but he just nodded and went to Candace to show her the collectable.

"Who were those guys?"

Just work friends. C'mon, let's pay for this and keep going.

They went on like that for hours. After they had gone through the whole convention, they had their backpack, purse, and arms full of Ducky Momo merch. A pool float, 2 bobbleheads, 5 plushes, just about a million stickers, and a whole lot more.

They piled it all into the car and got in just as Candace's stomach let out a loud growl. Perry looked over at her. Indian then movie?

"That sounds amazing."

They went to the best Indian restaurant in Danville (as was decreed by Baljeet), and ate until their mouths were on fire and their stomachs were bursting. Then, they walked to the corner store down the street to load up on candy before stuffing it in Perry's cargo pockets.

They drove to the movie theater and walked into the movie just before it started. It ended up being scarier than anticipated, and there were about 4 different times that Candace nearly jumped into Perry's lap.

When the movie was finished, Perry wrapped a jacket and arm around Candace's shoulders and they made their way back to the car.

They rode home in companionable silence. When they got there, they grabbed their new merch, walked in the house, set it down in the living room, and walked up the stairs, pausing at the top.

"Thank you for taking me out today Uncle Perry. I had a whole lot of fun."

You're welcome, Candace. I had a lot of fun too. Get some good sleep, then tomorrow, we can unbox and play with some of our new toys. I love you, kid.

"Love you too, Perry. Goodnight."
