Chapter Text
Every child in Teyvat is unique. As beautiful as that might sound to some, it is a rather unfortunate experience to others. Especially considering that only some gifted children whose souls were recognized by the gods themselves are given the opportunity to find their perfect match with certainty.
This implies that most people are left with the doubt, asking themselves whether they made the right choice for their marriage. However, all those children who were gifted a colorless gem the moment they were born could be confident that the one next to them on their journey was the right person.
But how did the system exactly work?
It was rather simple. Before the child turned one year old, a god would meet them when they were least expecting it and gift them the gem, a vision. Said vision would be colorless, lightless, lifeless, until one day, the holder met their soulmate. After physical contact between the matching pair, the vision would light up, as if it were electricity going through a lightbulb.
It wasn't equal, but neither were humans themselves. The barriers put between them by their own kind made the gods break out in laughter at one point during history, deciding to mess around until they created a system like this. The celestial ones found hilarious how some of them thought the visions could provide powers, but quickly became surprised at the sight of the seven archons scattered across Teyvat's regions making said theory become true. They couldn't complain, the tale written in this book called world was becoming more amusing by the second.
Perhaps you, as a reader, will find their stories entertaining too.
