The Misery Of Our Tale

Summary:

A fic in which the player accidentally kills some characters, and gets broken down by their thoughts.

Notes:

Ah great, I made another one, peck. If you have read my other fics, specifically the Regretevator one, you probably know how this works, so yeah. I hope I did the characters justice, feel free to leave some criticism. :3

Chapter 1: A Little Overkill

Notes:

Yo if you're new to this, then feel free to read it, I'm actually proud of this new version.

As for anyone who has already read it before I'll tell you that this doesn't differ the plot drastically, it simply expands one what I have already written and is not like, super short.

Alright, see ya on the flipside!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

After the intense battle against the Bubonic plant, you head down to leave the Sacred Oak. The air brushes up against your face, the sweet scent of leaves and fruit meet your nose. As you continued to walk, you met a friendly guy with a green jeep, he appears to be your average robloxian, nothing too flashy. He waves over and introduces himself with a friendly, though deep tone.

Guy: Hey, you seem a little tired from all of that. Would you like a ride back to Turitopolis? Fee's on me!

You glanced over to the sky, it seems like you don't have a ton of time to explore. You nodded to the driver, and got on the green jeep. The rider hops on as well, and starts driving through the forest.

The cool breeze graces upon you, you hear mosquitos buzz around and see dartmen explore the rainforest. Looking up to the sky, the view amazes you, it's beautiful in a way. You feel drawn by it, after all that fighting, it's a pleasant sight to witness.

Guy: I heard that you were on an important quest for Shedletsky, I hope that everything will work out for you!

You gave your thanks as your arrive at your destination, the orange tint on the village really gives it a chill mood. The guy parks his jeep and heads off to get some grub. You walk along the path, the sound of stepping on sand harmonizes with the rustling of the forest leaves and the cool breeze wiping your ears.

As you wonder around, you spot a cave with a wooden sign hanging above its large entrance; The board says "CARDS & WEAPONS", the writings entices you with the idea of more gear. And so, you enter the large structure. Inside the dimly lit cave lighten by candles around, the man with hat greets you sincerly.

Tai: Hello traveler! My name's Tai, may I inerest you in some of my wares?

You nodded your head in response and walked up to the minecart in the corner, there's several tools and weapons for sale. And in that moment, your gaze spotted a faboulous deal.

"Rocket Launcher for 300 Tix" is what was written on the tag plastered onto the shiny weapon.

You jumped back in shocked and excitement, your eyes were basically trying to escape your eyelids to check if you were seeing it right. 300 Tix!? Rocket Launcher prices are usually buildings higher than 300!

You snag the rocket launcher out of the cart, swung a heavy load of Tix onto the ground (you made sure it was at LEAST 300 Tix), and skipped out of the cave with your brand new tool.

You were walking to the airport while inspecting your new gadget, it's so shiny. It even comes with some rockets to use with it, you thought that was an amazing purchase.

At the runway, you met the familiar blue penguin you somewhat disliked, seems like his brother is accompanying the ride this time.

Jerry: Oh hello again stranger!

Terry: Finally you're back, jeez you're so slow.

Jerry: Big bro! Don't say that!

Terry: Whatever, let's just go back home.

Terry hops on the plane, his brother followed him with enthusiasm, and so did you.

You sat behind Jerry's seat, taking the time during the flight to check out how your launcher works. It's oddly simple, but hey.
The rest of the trip on the plane was relatively bland, it was quite boring. Looking outside, you'd occasionally see interesting places you may visit; But that's really the most interesting part of the flight.

After quite a while, the plane enters the hanger. Terry announces on the vehicle speakers.

Terry: Guys let's go now.

You, Jerry, and Terry hop off that flying machine, and start heading back to the hotel. During the walk, the three you stir up a conversation.

Jerry: Hey stranger, what did you do back there? It seemed like you had a lot of fun!

Terry: Probably busy doing whatever that "hero stuff" is.

You slightly chuckle at Terry's respone, and went in depth about what that "hero stuff" was to the little brother penguin. Terry appears to be uninterested with your explanations, but Jerry is fascinated.

Jerry: Wow, that sounds so cool!

Terry: Yeah yeah, anyway, where should we get dinner?

Jerry: Oh! Let's go to the Iron Cafe!

Terry: The Iron Cafe? Alright then.

You nodded, and the three of you head over to the Iron Cafe. You find yourself in a large room with a large stage with a band playing as of now. The lights give off a cozy atmosphere, the music compliments the mood very well. The penguins find a table, and you take your seat.

Terry: Alright, ask me what you want to order, I'll go get them.

Jerry: Can we have some cake?

Terry: Uh no? We're not made of Tix bruh.

You requested Terry to take his order regardless since you'll be paying, before asking for a cheeseburger and handing the blue bird some Tix. Terry sighs and nods as he went over to order you dinner.

Jerry: Heya stranger, how are you doing?

You said that you were doing great.

Jerry: Nice, I'm feeling great as well! I can't wait to have some cake...

Jerry appears to be day dreaming after mentioning that. You poke him lightly to try to snap Jerry back to reality. You and the penguin giggle at that interaction, afterwhich, Terry comes back with your food.

Jerry starts digging in quite fast, you were somewhat suprised, but you continued eating your tasty burger.

Jerry: So! Good!

Terry: Glad you're enjoying that bro, that costed quite a fortune.

You were finishing your meal, when Jerry handsed over a plate with a slice of the cake. You thanked him, as you consume your cake along with the other penguins. The chocolate taste was very nice.

Jerry: Big bro?

Terry: What?

Jerry: Can we go to the arcade after this?

Terry: Sigh, alright.

Jerry jumps off his seat in celebration, but he gets back in it immediately in embarassment. You chuckle before getting promptly slapped by Terry and having Jerry tell his big bro to not do that.

You told them that you'll be going home first since, it's pretty tiring being a hero; You're in need of some rest!

Jerry: Oh okay! Bye stranger!

Terry: Bye.

You head out and are once again greeted by the outside world. The cold wins brushes your skin, the dark blue sky reminding you the time, it is night time. You walked across the dirt path to the hotel and swung open the door. No one appears to be at the reception desk, so you went down the hall, passing by pictures of penguins and aquatic life.

At the end of the hall, you meet your room door. You twisted the door know, and swung that barrier open. Ah back at... wait...

Isn't this Terry's room?

You didn't bother with the idea that just came into your brain. Besides, it probably won't be that much of an inconvinience, right?

And so, you slammed the door shut and locked, before hopping into bed, turning the lights pre-hop. You close your eyes, and drift off into the slumber you needed...

...

While you were dreaming you thought you heard a weird knocking sound... Eh, must be the cats...

***Knock!***

Huh..?

***Knock!***

Wait... is tha-

***CRASH!!!***

You fell of the bed from the sudden noise. Your eyes landed their focus onto the door and- oh... it's the penguin...

Terry: BRUH! FIRST YOU TRIED TO STEAL MY PLANE, AND NOW THIS!?

You tried to explain yourself, but Terry cuts you off.

Terry: I HAD TO SLEEP OUTSIDE LAST NIGHT BRO! LIKE BRUH!

You apologized to the very enraged penguin, explaining how you didn't mean to do such a thing. Of course, Terry doesn't take your words for anything, in fact, it only agitates him more.

Terry: AND NOW YOU'RE TRYING TO EXPLAIN YOURSELF BRUH!? THAT'S IT!

Terry takes his rocket launcher, and starts loading it up. You really ticked him off this time, and now you're gonna pay the price.

Unless you...

You grab the rocket launcher you just brought yesterday, luckily they're loaded beforehand. So now all you have to do is aim and...

FIRE-

***KABOOM!!***

You felt your arms hurt from the recoil, as you realized your brand new weapon is broken, but that's not the worst part. You glanced over to what you've done; You made a huge mess, there's a large chunk of the wall that has exploded and was spread around the room, and several fire have started in several places across the bedroom. You coughed and started wheezing a tad bit, you only then realized that Terry is amidst the rumble and flames.

You dashed from the bed to where Terry was lying, he was coughing out bad and appears to be greatly injured.

Terry: You moron... Why did you... do that..?

You started apologizing and promising that you'll take him to the hospital and pay all of your bills, but Terry slaps you.

Terry: I'm too injured to make it out. Take... Jerry out of here, fast...

Jerry comes over to what has happened, his face turning into one of distress and shock as he sees Terry lying in your hands.

Jerry B-big bro! What happened!? We need to get you ou of h-

Terry: Bro, I'm too... hurt... just get... everyone out of here...

Jerry: But-

Terry: Just... go...

Jerry goes over to his brother penguin and tries to lift him up, but alas, it's futile. He starts tearing up, though reluctantly agrees to leave him behind. You and Jerry get everyone out of the hotel and call the fire fighters to deal with the ongoing flames.

As you exit the building, Jerry keeps on sobbing. You felt horrible, however there's nothing you can do. You watched as the fire fighters attempt to resolve the issue with burning hotel.

You sat down on a chair, glancing over to Terry's coffin. You and Jerry unfortunately learnt that Terry really couldn't make it. Jerry, being the closest one to Terry, was devistated, and was crying, lamenting for his brother penguin's sudden loss. Seeing someone like Jerry being completely destroyed shredded your heart, especially since you were the one to take Terry away from him.

And so, you started sobbing, your head found its place in your hands as you felt the regret and pain of doing something you never wished to make anyone do. But you couldn't just leave Jerry to suffer alone like that.

You stood up and made you way to the little penguin. You kneel down to match his height, and gave him a pat on the back, attempting to comfort him when he needed it the most.

Jerry: H-he loved me... I-it's my fault...

His voice struggles to escapd, as his sorrow takes over him. You went in and gave Jerry a warm hug, and promised to him that you would take care of him, and that Terry will always be with him no matter what. Jerry presents a faint smile, still shedding tears, you're not much different, as you also are crying with him.

You stood up, and gave Jerry a rose to gift to his brother. As you walk away, you hear the little penguin quietly sobbing to himself.  You patted his back and told him that you would buy him his favourite meal for dinner.

Jerry: T-thanks... You're so nice, reminds me of big bro...

It really stings to know that you were the one to have killed him in the first place, the one to cause Jerry's misery.

...

Jerry: H-hey... stranger? Are you okay?

You shaked your head and glanced back at Jerry, and told him that you'll be fine. You tried to lighten up the mood, and asked him what was his favourite thing to do.

Jerry: Well, it was drawing! I drew on the computer or drawing book, and show my big bro what I made. I think they're good.

...

Can I show them to you, stranger when we get home?

You gave him the thumbs up, before heading back to the Iron Cafe. It's noticably not as busy as it would normally be, most likely due to current events unfolding as of the moment.

Jerry takes a spot and you walked over to the stands. You didn't feel like talking much, your body felt weighted and fatigued. So you just took the chocolate cake and handed over some Tix.

You carried the cake over to Jerry's table, and cut it up. Jerry takes a slice and starts eating it, but you've come to noticed that he is eating rather... slowly that he uses to before, however you didn't want to point it out and resumed eating the meal.

As the soft pieces of cake are crunched up in your mouth, you felt a nauseating feeling splash all too sudden. Jerry's veiw shifted from the cake to you trying to not throw up.

Jerry: Hey stranger, are you... okay?

You reluctantly admited that you somewhat weren't, and excused yourself to go to the restroom. Jerry returns to chomoing down on the dinner, as your legs run over to the bathroom stall.

Your knees fal lonto the reflective bathroom tiles, and your hands were placed onto the hard toilet rim. That feeling of nausea soon came right out of your mouth and into the toilet.

That... was awful...

Your legs stood you back up, before walking over to wash your hands. You looked at the mirror, but pulled your head away from staring at it. Something about seeing your own face now disgusts you...

You returned back to the table, and find that Jerry has finished the rest of the cake.

Jerry: That was great, thank you for buying us cake!

Jerry stands up, and holds your arm. You two walk out, walking back home to the hotel. Again, no one was at the reception desk, you shrugged it off and headed over to your respective rooms.

The little penguin waves at you with slightly happy tone.

Jerry: See you tommorow stranger! Goodnight!

You returned your goodnight to him and went into your room. Some of the furniture were removed, and there's a slight dent in the wall, but the room is servicable for now.

You closed the lights, and went into bed. You tried to sleep, but a weird sensation kept lingering upon you. This room was not yours, it shouldn't be...

...

*Terrible*

*You're terrible*

*You're more than just terrible, you're horrific creation of hatred*

*Disgusting*

The thoughts chizeled away at your mind, it was as if someone was picking into your skull. It didn't feel great, not even fine, just horrible.

Like you...

...

The voices stop momentarily, as your focus shifted over to some noise coming over from the other room. Your body got up, and you went out into the cold and dark hallway. You stepped in front of what you assume is Jerry's room and knock. Nothing really answers you back, so you head in.

Inside you immediately spot the little penguin crying in his bed. You went over to ask what is wrong. His voice tries its best to answer, though it is quite the shaky and struggling tone.

Jerry: I sh-should've saved my brot-brother. It's m-my fault! I l-let him-!

He is unable to continue speaking as the gloom snatches his speech away. Your chest felt like it was stabbed by an iron rusty nail. Not only did you take his brother away, but you also made him believe that his death was to be blamed onto him.

Your eyes started watering, your throat being the next victim of woe. Even so, you can't let your emotions out just yet. You crawled into bed with him, and hugged him tightly, saying comforting words to him and telling him that it wasn't his fault; It wasn't, and will never be, his fault for anything wrong.

He hugs back, you are able to decipher a faint "thank you" in between his gasps for air in his tears. You agreed to sleep with him for the night, and that you would protect him from any danger.

You both go to sleep together, hoping that despite all the misery, tommorow will be a brighter day.

Notes:

Hey miss me? Okay I'll explain a little smth for anyone who has read the following chapters already. You may notice that the end to this and the start of the next chapter aren't so... alligned.

Though I won't have it be my number one prioroty, as I actually don't hate my chapter two. If you want an update on that chapter then let me know!

Some problems I had with my first version of this was that it was too fast for my liking. Especoally for the grieving part, in the og fic he just likw "okay thanks!", Jerry would definetely not move on that quick. Anyway

Alright see ya on... someday I guess!
