Sleepy Matt

Summary:

Matt shakes his head, "You wanna watch the basketball game? It's on in five." He asks his brother.

"Sure, I'm just gonna go grab a soda. You want anything?"

"Root beer, thanks," Matt replies as Chris walks away. He begins taking off the rest of his jewelry and sets it down on the table in front of him.

Notes:

I am sorry the title is shit but I can't think of a good title for the life of me and since this is basically fluff without plot and the plot is sleepy Matt I just slightly gave up on coming up with a title

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Matt flinches as he opens his eyes quickly, "Hey, what are you doing!" He asks Chris angrily.

Chris's expression stays soft. "You fell asleep, so I was taking your jewelry off for you."

Matt looks around and realizes he's on the living room couch. He definitely forgot where he was for a moment.

He sighs, letting his expression lighten, "Oh, thanks. Sorry I yelled at you, you scared me I didn't expect anyone to be in my face."

"Sorry, I was trying to take off your necklace. I realized it would be kind of hard since you were asleep, but I tried anyway," Chris explains as he stands up.

He walks over to the blanket basket and throws the first one he grabs over to Matt.

"I'm good thanks," Matt says as he tosses the blanket beside him.

"You're not gonna go back to sleep?" Chris asks curiously.

Chris starts making his way back from the kitchen a few minutes later with a Pepsi for him and a root beer for Matt. He also grabbed a bag of chips and a bowl from the cupboard. When he approaches the living room, he can see Matt has started to doze off again. Chris hangs back a bit, setting the snacks and drinks down carefully on the kitchen counter. He waits a minute or two until he's sure Matt is asleep, then brings the snacks and drinks over to the table. Chris sets them down quietly and then carefully picks up Matt's jewelry. Once he's got all of it in hand, he carefully walks down the hall and sets it down in the jewelry dish Matt has placed on his dresser. When he gets back to the living room, Matt still hasn't moved, so Chris turns on the basketball game like Matt asked and joins him on the couch. Chris remembers the blanket he grabbed for Matt that he earlier refused. He carefully reaches over Matt and grabs the blanket, slowly draping it over him. Once Chris is satisfied with his work, he settles into his spot and turns the volume up on the TV just loud enough for him to hear, but not to wake Matt.

A while later, when Chris is half asleep himself, and the basketball game is over, he hears Nick getting home. Nick climbs the stairs and turns the corner to the living room.

Chris gets up to greet him, not wanting to talk too loud next to Matt since he's still asleep.

"Hey," Chris says to his older brother as he meets him by the stairs.

"Hey," Nick says.

He looks past Chris and gestures to Matt with a chuckle.

"He fell asleep, then he woke up and said he wasn't tired, so I went to get snacks because he said he wanted to watch the basketball game and when I came back he was asleep again so I put that blanket on him and turned the game on in case he woke up," Chris explains.

"That's really nice of you," Nick replies honestly.

"I'll tell you though, I nearly fell asleep. The Celtics aren't doing good at all, I'm bored." Chris adds.

Nick laughs, "Well you know I'd be asleep sooner than you or Matt, sports games have never really been my thing."

Chris shrugs with a head nod, "Well, I'm gonna go back and sit with Matt. I don't want him to wake up and be all alone." He says as he turns towards the couch.

"Alright, sounds good, I think I'm gonna go up to my room and watch TV," Nick says as he turns to leave.

He makes his way to the stairs and gives Chris a little wave which Chris returns.

Once Nick is gone, Chris turns to Matt, "Matt?" He says at a regular volume.

Matt doesn't move or respond.

Chris scoffs, "I knew you were tired bro," He whispers under his breath.

Chris returns to his seat on the couch and gets comfortable. Sometime later, unconsciously, he shimmies closer to his brother, leaning on him comfortably. Chris can't lie, he's sleepy too, now that he thinks of it. He lets his eyes fall shut. The sound of whatever's playing on the TV in front of him and Matt starts to fade into the background as he slips into sleep.
