Chapter Text

Touya could only stare in horror as Endeavor pulled his little brother by the arm kicking and screaming through the door. They had just returned from the doctor where Shouto was supposed to discover his secondary gender. When Touya turned out to be an Omega, his father went into a rage because his first masterpiece turned out to be a failure. Touya knew as soon as his father and younger brother came through the door, that the same had happened again.

"Enji!" Mother screamed as the man tossed Shouto onto the floor, a whine escaping the small boy at the impact.

"How can you be this useless?!" Father screamed, but at whom Touya had no idea. Maybe at his mother because 'she' wasn't able to create strong enough pups soldiers, or at Shouto for not being able to control what gender he was.  The fifteen-year-old stood frozen in the doorway to his bedroom, not knowing what to do. It wasn't until Endeavor threw a ball of fire at the small pup on the floor that Touya moved. Touya had practically raised Shouto from the moment he was born, and he was not going to let his so-called father hurt his pup.

Jumping in front of the fireball, Touya bent over the crying pup and screamed as the fire hit his back.

"Nii-san!" Shouto screamed in horror, his small fists clutching at his shirt as he sobbed.

"Get away from my pup!" Touya screamed through his pain, throwing his own flames at their father.

From there on, everything escalated. Fire stood hot on all sides, encasing both him and Shouto. Touya could hear his mother, Natsuo, and Fuyumi scream from somewhere on the other side but had no idea where they were exactly. Touya knew he had to get Shouto out of the house, he knew he had to get out. Scooping up the small pup, Touya bolted through the fire to get to the door.

"Hold onto me and don't let go! Do you understand, Shouto?!" Touya screamed, clutching him to his chest.

"Y-yes," Shouto sobbed, looping his small arms around Touya's neck and holding on as hard as he could.

Getting to the door was a feat in and of itself, not being able to see through the wall of hot flames, but a minute later both Omegas were out of the house. Touya ran out of the courtyard, not stopping to look back as he ran into the street and towards the city. He kept running, not knowing if their father would keep chasing them down until he knew that both he and Shouto were gone. He kept running even though his bare feet hit the ragged rocks and small pieces of glass strewn across the alleyways. The small five-year-old in his arms hand calmed down enough that the sobs that racked through his body had calmed down into small sniffles, but Touya could feel the small tears fall onto his shoulders and down his neck.

"Nii-san?" The small voice of the pup in his arms called out. Touya stopped at the nearest alleyway, sliding down the wall to sit near at back of the dead-end alleyway. It was dark and cold, and they were both hungry.

"It's okay," Touya whispered, but as soon as the words left his lips, silent tears began to fall. "It's okay," he repeated, looking down at Shouto.

"W-where will we g-go now?" The pup stuttered, eyes shining with his own tears.

"I don't know," A sob escaped Touya as he answered the question. He pulled Shouto into his chest as he sobbed onto the white and red hair, whispering apologies and promises to keep the small boy safe.

Neither of them noticed the shadow standing on the roof.

Tenko stared down at the two omegas, unsure how to approach the two without the eldest biting his head off. The scent of the white-haired boy was beginning to smell feral, most likely going into a more defensive state to be able to protect the young one in his arms. Tenko knew the hero he was interning with had been called to a villain fight a few miles away, something about a fire, and that he had to calm these two down on his own. Taking a deep breath, he went to the other side of the building to jump down, knowing he would scare them both away if he jumped down in front of them. He went around the corner to get to the mouth of the alleyway and got his scent under control to avoid scaring either of them, knowing the scent of an unknown alpha might set them off. He was a few dozen feet away from the omegas when a low growl came from the oldest.

"It's okay, I'm here to help," Tenko knew his voice was not as soothing as some of his other classmates, but he still kept his voice as calm as possible.

"Get away," The growling omega said, clutching the smaller one harder to his chest. The small pup whined at the hostility, and that just made the older growl even more.

"I just want to know if you're ok. You seem hurt and distressed. It's ok, I'm a hero," Tenko tried to reason, slowly approaching them with his hands in front of him to show that he was not a threat. "I just want to help you,"

"Right," the omega laughed. "As if a hero would ever help someone like us,"

Tenko had no idea what the other was talking about, but he knew that he would help them both no matter what the problem was. Just like how Yagi helped him when he got his quirk and no one wanted to help him.

"I can promise you that I will not let any harm come to you or the pup," Tenko said, keeping both his voice and scent as calm as possible.

Suddenly a pair of blue, striking eyes looked up at him. They seemed to glow in the dark as they narrowed at him, and the intensity behind those eyes sent a shiver down Tenko's back. The omega looked like he was calculating the alpha, and Tenko let the boy take the time he needed. He was not going to screw this up. He was going to do everything in his power to save these two.

The older omega’s piercing blue eyes flicked to Tenko’s hands and then back to his face. There was a moment of silence, a pause where it felt like the world was holding its breath. Finally, the older omega spoke, his voice low and rough.

"Why should we trust you? What makes you different from the others who’ve hurt us?"

Tenko took a slow breath, allowing his calm demeanor to shine through. He understood that the omegas' distrust likely came from past experiences, and breaking through that wall of wariness would be a challenge.

"I get it," Tenko said softly, his voice steady. "You’ve had people betray you before. It’s hard to trust someone new. But I want to help. I’ve been in a similar position before. Someone reached out to me when I was at my lowest, and that made all the difference."

He watched as the older omega’s eyes flickered with a mixture of skepticism and curiosity. The pup’s soft whimpering seemed to diminish slightly, as if sensing the slight shift in the atmosphere. Tenko took another step forward, carefully judging the reaction of the older omega.

"I know it’s hard to believe," Tenko continued, his voice gentle but firm. "But I’m here to offer help, not to hurt. You’re both in danger, and if you don’t let me help, you might end up in a worse situation."

There was another tense pause. The older omega’s eyes were locked onto Tenko’s, searching for any sign of deception. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the older omega slowly relaxed his grip on the smaller one, though he kept him close.

"Alright," the omega said grudgingly, though his voice still carried a note of wariness. "But if you try anything—"

"I won’t," Tenko interrupted gently. "I promise. Just let me check you both for any injuries, and then we can figure out the safest way to get out of here."

With cautious movements, Tenko approached the pair, carefully inspecting them for injuries. The smaller omega had a few scrapes and bruises, but nothing seemed life-threatening. The older omega was clearly more distressed, his body tense and his breathing rapid.

As Tenko worked, he kept his tone soothing and his movements non-threatening, hoping to slowly build the trust that was so crucial in this situation. He knew that the older omega’s protectiveness of the pup was fierce, and earning his trust would take time and patience.

Once Tenko was done checking for injuries, he offered a tentative smile. "You’re both going to be okay. I’ve called for backup, and we’ll make sure you’re safe and get the care you need."

The older omega’s eyes softened slightly, though the distrust was still evident. "Why are you really doing this?"

Tenko looked him in the eyes, his expression earnest. "Because I know what it’s like to need help and not know who to trust. I’m here because I want to make sure you both get the help you need, without any strings attached."

There was a long pause as the older omega weighed Tenko’s words. Finally, he nodded, albeit reluctantly. "Fine. But if anything happens—"

"It won’t," Tenko assured him. "I’m here to make sure you both get through this safely."

As the distant sirens of approaching backup grew louder, Tenko continued to offer reassurances and support, hoping that his sincerity and actions would be enough to show the omegas that he was genuinely there to help.
