Cold Winters and Warm Kisses

Summary:

Dean looks at him, stopping. “Uh, yeah. My hands are just cold.” Cas stops a few steps later.

Without saying a word, Cas grabs Dean’s hands. “Better?” he asks.

Dean blanks for a second and looks down at their conjoined hands, blinking.

He looks back up. “My lips are freezing,” he says blankly.

(Edited: Fixed grammar and capitalization.)

Notes:

Based on a Pinterest post I saw. Someone commented saying they needed a fic, and I have nothing better to do, sooo here it is. It’s nothing special, but I hope you enjoy it. 🙏🏻

Work Text:

Dean slips on his shoes and shrugs on his jacket before grabbing the door handle to step outside.

“Dean? Where are you going?”

Dean turns around to find Cas standing at the bottom of the stairs, one foot on the first step and holding the railing with his hand, looking like he’s about to sprint up the stairs at any moment.

“Oh, hey Cas, I’m just gonna go for a quick walk with Miracle.”

“Oh, do you, uh, mind if I join you two?”

“Sure, why not?”

Cas starts walking up the stairs as Dean turns back around to grab an extra coat, hat, scarf, and boots.

Just as Cas is about to open the door, Dean grabs his shoulder, whirling him around to face him. “And where do you think you’re going?” Dean asks, raising an eyebrow.

Cas looks confused. “What do you mean? I’m going outside to walk with you?” His brows are scrunched together, and he’s tilting his head to the side.

“Not without a coat, you’re not.” Cas looks less confused and more annoyed now as Dean slips a coat onto him and wraps a scarf around his neck, before topping it off with a hat that has a pom-pom on it. Then he places Cas’s boots next to his feet.

“Well, go on. I’m not your handmaiden—you can put on your own shoes,” Dean says, gesturing to the boots.

Cas looks down, then back up, before kneeling down and putting them on.

Once tied, he glances up. “I don’t see why all this is necessary. A simple jacket and some boots would have been fine,” he states, getting back to his feet.

“You can tell me that after you come crying about getting a cold,” Dean says, rolling his eyes, and opens the door. A cold gust of air immediately slams him in the face.

“Jesus fuck! It’s cold as a witch’s tit out there.”

Dean turns to Cas, who’s smiling smugly.

“And I’m the one not dressed properly?”

“Oh, shut it,” Dean says, before stomping out the door with Miracle in tow, Cas smiling wider now.

Miracle bounds off as soon as he gets out the door.

“Don’t go too far, buddy!” Dean calls after him, stepping through the thick snow.

Cas is next to him as they track through the snow-covered pathway. They walk in silence for a while, just enjoying the crisp breeze.

“Miracle seems to be enjoying himself,” Cas says, interrupting the silence, watching as the fluffy dog shoves his snout into the snow and snorts before rolling around in it.

Dean chuckles. “Just be glad it ain’t a muddy puddle of melted snow.”

“Yes, that wouldn’t be very enjoyable,” Cas replies, smiling.

They return to a comfortable silence again—for about fifteen minutes, before the sound of teeth chattering interrupts them.

Cas turns to Dean, watching him rub his hands together. “Are you okay?” he asks.

Cas stares at him for a second, then leans in and kisses him. “Better?”

Dean grins. “No, I don’t think so.”

Cas is smiling now too, and kisses him again. “What about now?”

“Yes,” Dean says, cheeks flushed pink.

Dean moves his hand from Cas’s and brings it up to Cas’s neck. “But I think they could be even warmer,” he starts, pulling him forward.

They kiss again, this time longer and more intimate. When they both lean back, they’re breathless.

They’re about to kiss again when Miracle races up to them and jumps onto Dean’s legs, getting wet paws all over his pants.

“Miracle! You cockblocker!” he exclaims. Cas’s head falls back in laughter.

“You just had to ruin the moment by getting your grimy paws on me!” Dean says, bending down and ruffling Miracle’s wet head. Miracle woofs and gives him a slobbery kiss on the cheek.

“Ohh! Yuck! Dog breath!” He reels back, falling flat on his ass. Cas is now bending over from laughing.

“Stop laughing! This isn’t funny! Now my ass is gonna be frozen too!”

Cas wipes an imaginary tear from his eye. “You’re right, you’re right. It’s hilarious.”

Dean glares at him.

Cas is still crackling as he asks, “Do you want me to make that better too?”

Cas gets face-planted with a snowball. Dean’s whole face is bright red.

“Get outta here,” Dean says in a feigned glare, a small smile lifting the edges of his lips.

Dean attempts to get back up but is knocked back over by a snowball to the face.

“Ohhh, you’re gonna regret that!”

They return to the bunker covered in snow, both grinning widely.

Later that night, they enjoy a hot cup of hot chocolate with a splash of rum under a shared blanket, watching Space Cowboys . Because duh, you can’t enjoy hot chocolate without cowboys. (He definitely did not make this rule up.)

Miracle snores loudly throughout the whole movie, completely knocked out.
