Summary
Buck was expecting Tommy to hold his leg the way he had done previously and just quickly lift it onto the footrest. Instead, he moved his foot carefully, up and down, up and down. Then slightly to the left and then to the right. None of the movements hurt but they were a bit uncomfortable and stiff.
”Are you testing me?” Buck asked.
Tommy looked up at him.
”No.”
”You’re a bad liar.”

To make sure he could get back to what he loved doing, being a firefighter, Buck agreed to spend 8 weeks at a clinic that specialized in rehabilitation of ankle and foot injuries. His team included a doctor, nurses, and a physical therapist.
And if he happened to find his physical therapist attractive, so what?
And yes, his physical therapist was a man and no, it didn't make any sense to him but Buck knew attraction when he felt it and it certainly didn't help that Tommy could handle him like he weighed nothing and called him sweetheart every once in a while.
