“Can we do The Man From Deadhorse next?” said Lucy, eagerly.
Coop’s heart thrashed unpleasantly. That role had been his first glimpse into what happened when a good man was pushed too far. “Naw, not that one.”
“Please,” Lucy begged. “It’s my dad’s—it’s my favourite.”
He didn’t like what she’d been about to say. “No,” he said, more firmly. Just the memory of that film felt sour. It had been the beginning of the end for the version of Cooper Howard that believed in what he stood for, believed in Vault-Tec and in his wife.
“Please,” said Lucy, her eyes huge and liquid.
