Hold Me Now

Summary:

Short story shorter, Kirk and Spock provide each other with a feeling of belonging that is greater than anyone else they've ever known, and ever will know. If Spock ever needs a reminder of the extent that he is loved, it will likely find him before he even has to search for it.

Notes:

Beta'd by @comedic_tragedy, thank you so much for your help!

The title is inspired by the song of the same name by Thompson Twins. I highly recommend giving it a listen if you haven't, it's lovely and suuuper k/s coded (to me) <3

Work Text:

"You have a habit of incessantly touching me."

Jim removed his hands from Spock's chest, hovering them over his skin.

"If it bothers you-"

"I did not ask you to stop," Spock interrupted with a raised eyebrow. Jim placed his hands back down, unmoving. "I merely noticed the behaviour."

Jim smiled, his gaze softening.

"So... you're curious as to why? Why I do it?"

"In a sense. I understand the general reasoning behind it, but I admit the action is still foreign to me."

Jim's hand glided its way up Spock's cheek and his fingers caressed his ear. Spock's heart fluttered in his side, the swirling heat of their bond making both of them buzz with satisfaction and contentment.

Jim grinned at him the way he always did, the crinkling corners of his eyes making Spock grow dizzy.

"That's why I do it."

Spock seemed to pause, thinking. Processing, maybe.

"I see. In a way, I understand. My own initiating of contact with you is certainly rewarding."

Jim knew this, but still hearing it made him feel giddy.

"Therefore I suppose it was illogical of me to not consider the inverse likely."

The captain frowned at this, but only for a moment. He forgets, sometimes, that this was all rather new to Spock. He had never had someone like Jim before, someone who could find so much joy in merely caressing his face. Spock had never felt so desired before.

Well, Jim was glad to be the one to change that. He was more than willing to help this become the norm, no matter how long it took. Spock had never failed to make his bondmate feel desired, and he deserved to know just how desirable he was as well.

"Spock... of course. I understand how you feel, but... yes, of course I want you, I want to touch you, I love to just 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 you. Nothing makes me feel more complete, more whole. Just being with you like this is..."

He didn't need to go on. Spock could feel his emotions, his intent. And while Jim was certainly not yet a professional in the whole bond thing, he could tell Spock felt happy too. And that was just about all he could ever want.

Plus, he didn't only have the bond to go off of.

"Mr. Spock," Jim murmured, unable to hold back a grin. "Are you aware that your ears have turned a bit green?"

Spock stiffened, and Jim knew he had him flustered. He tried not to laugh, his body overflowing with joyful waves.

"Yes. It's a perfectly natural physiological response to-"

"It's adorable." Jim interrupted.

Spock almost scoffed at that, Jim could feel him do the mental equivalent. It didn't help his case, though, that his ears just burned more. Jim giggled, pulling him close and cuddling him tightly. Spock sighed into his skin, melting against him. The contentment flowed between them in a sort of feedback loop. When Spock began to purr, (Which he constantly insisted he 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 do) Jim didn't even tease him about it. There was always next time.
