CHAPTER 1: I WILL NOT ASK YOU WHERE YOU CAME FROM

Lila was sitting on the couch, waiting for Five to come home. She was afraid Five had relapsed on metelkova. She was waiting for him in their shitty shared apartment in the renewed abandoned parking lot where all the hobos in stozice sleep and use heroin. She was afraid job had joined them once again.

Suddenly the door opened, the high and drunken Five stumbled inside. He kick shut the door behind him and threw his not yet used up stash of 420 on the table. Lila swung up, being awoken from her half sleep. She looked at him, her hand shaking. She saw he had done it again, and sure, she was disappointed, but most of all, she was…afraid…

“Lila…I…I’m so sorry…you know I didn’t mean too…” said Five, but there was no truth in his big red eyes.

“Liar!” She shouted at his… friend? She was not sure what they were yet, since they were only living together because of their shitty financial status. They were struggling, Five had been kicked out by his siblings for heavy drug use, but Lila got into an argument with her mother. She had demanded for her to cut off her messy and unkept greasy hair, but she did not wish too. Her locks were long and beautiful, swaying in the soft wind, scattering the gold shimmer as the breeze played with them. So, they decided to buy this apartment together. It was supposed to be a temporary abode, but it has stretched for 6 months. They had grown closer, more then Lila would allow herself to admit.

“I’m not lying, I’m just bending the truth a little.” Replied Five, but the peace would be short lived as Lila’s hand sailed across the air, striking Five’s cheek. It left a nasty red mark. Five almost fell to the floor. He was speechless, how could his friend…no, more… occasional lover, do something like this…

“How can you do this?” Asked Five with tears welling in his eyes, washing out the red in them. “I provide for this family!”

Lila stumbled over her next words, shock clouding his expression: “Family? Is that… what you think we are..?”

Five, realising what he had just said, looked at Lila with a look in his eyes that she couldn’t quite recognise. Was it disgust, repulsion, or was it love, adoration, tenderness. She did not know, and she hated the fact. She despised that she could never truly know what Five was thinking, what he truly felt, if he was telling the truth or spinning yet another one of his lies.

“You know what!? I can’t do this anymore! I’m done! Take care of this bullshit by yourself, I’m tired of cleaning up your messes! And I hate you, but not as much as the people who did this to you! I’ve given you a hundred chances, and you’ve blown every single one of them to shreds! You are utterly the most disappointing, incompetent and sad excuse for an Umbrella academy student ever! I can’t believe they let you in! I wish they hadn’t, then we would have never met! Goodbye, Five…I do hope, sincerely, that you’ll get better” she looked at him, grabbing her already packed bag, and just before she left and closed the door behind her, she finished her thought, her monologue, her word wall of the soul. “Though I doubt it..”

She slammed the door as she left. The moment she stepped out, it felt like a stone had rolled off her heart. Each step from that door, that apartment, that boy, was harder then the last, like she was Christ carrying the cross of the people’s sins, but she persisted. And that persistence bode her well, as she managed to get to the clean clear air, the stožice arena in front of her. She looked up at the sky. She was surprised. Today, three stars were visible, not like usually when you could only observe the two brightest.

She continued walking, her thoughts running at a hundred miles an hour through her already overworked mind. She hated himself, for leaving Five like that, but another loved it. SHe felt free, after months. But she wanted, no, needed to get revenge, for all the pain she had endured. She had to find, and punish the person who sold Five the drugs, who ruined her friend, her dearest soul brother, her only.

She knew who Five’s drug dealer was, and where he operated. She stepped on the 20 fužine bus line, but she had to hide from the bus driver, since she had forgotten his Urbana at their place. She sat on the bus seat, and old lady beside her, even though the rest of the bus was empty. She looked out of the window, debating her choice. She tried to come up with a plan, but the rage inside her wouldn’t allow that. All she could think about was how she was going to hurt that wretched drug dealer.

She stepped off the bus at bavarc, and then made her way to the boba shop nearby, where they were always filled. She stole a straw with a pointy end. She walked to metelkova, holding the straw in her fist, being wary of the hobos.

She then saw him, the man who had ruined his love. She stepped up to him and said “you bastard! Do you know what you did?!”

The man looked at her confused and clearly high as the planes circling above them, as they could not land at brnik because of the terrible organisation.

“What did I ever do to you?”

Lila saw red as she pulled out the straw with intention of stabbing the man, but the dealer was more prepared for this kind of encounter. He quickly pulled out his baseball bat and swung it at Lila’s head, hitting her. Hard.

Lila began to feel dizzy, reaching a hand at her forehead. It felt wet and her fingers came back bloody. The man swung his bat once more and Lila fell to the cold concrete ground, losing consciousness.

Her head hurt. It hurt so, so bad.

Notes:

This was originally written for a different fandom, but s4 was so bad we had to make fun of it and publish it as the weird love triangle of five, Lila, and Diego.
