Percy & Offerings to The One I Like
Camp Half-Blood, Long Island Sound
“ Percy! ” The raven haired Demigod stopped short on his way to The Poseidon table. His very pretty, very tired, and very hungry girlfriend practically creaked as she turned towards him. Her sterling silver eyes focused behind him. He shoved down the urge to loose a groan. Slowly he turned. Chiron looked at him from the head table. His features closer to disappointment than anger. Gods why couldn’t it have been anger? That was so much easier to deal with. “You cannot be childish with the Gods. Your father deserves more respect and tribute lest…”
Percy stalked back towards the offering fire. Every eye watched him as he brought up his fork and cut a massive bite off his large stack of maple syrup drowned blue pancakes. He slid it into the fire and turned his eyes onto Chiron. His teacher probably realised something bad was about to happen the moment Percy’s lips parted.
“I give this offering to my mother’s ex-boyfriend. The husband of my mighty immortal step mother, The Goddess and Queen of The Sea. I pay my respects and tribute to the God who caught the affections of the brilliant and beautiful Sally Jackson who has been called a Queen among mortals and women as well as the Great Lady Amphitrite. Please accept my offering, and this grape.” Percy plucked a single grape and tossed it into the fire along with his pancake. He cocked an eyebrow at Chiron as nothing happened. Then turned on his heel and marched away. The Centaur grimaced but didn’t say a word.
He and Annabeth were still sitting at Poseidon’s table two hours later. A sea breeze wafted behind them. Percy had his arm around Annabeth as she rested her head on his shoulder. Soft footsteps reached his ears. He glanced over Annabeth’s golden curls to see the black haired woman with her crab claw circlet and small red horns. She raised an eyebrow at him.
“How angry is he?” She stalked closer and gracefully lowered herself onto the bench. Her white dress flowed out of the way as she crossed her legs and leaned her back against the table. Her deep brown eyes caught his.
“He is not angry, My Child. He even enjoyed your offering. Though I would say it is not a good idea to antagonise the only Olympian who agrees with your relationship to Annabeth.” His sea green eyes, far too dark from their normal brightness. She reached out and settled a hand on his cheek. “My husband is worried about you Percy. Your… insolence is normally not directed towards him. I’m here to check on you because it also concerned me.”
“Amp… I really am sorry, but it was a horribly long night. Wise Girl and I didn’t sleep all that well.” Amphitrite nodded. She brushed some of his hair out of the way and got a very good look at the bags under his eyes. Annabeth was fully passed out on him, similar bags under her eyes.
“I cannot relate. But I can offer you this. If you need to talk, or if either of you are interested in coming down to Atlantis for a break. I can give you, both of you, that.” Percy nodded. Amphitrite bowed his head and pressed a kiss to the crown of his head. “I bless you Percy Jackson, Son of The Sea, may my power offer you even a few hours of proper rest if not a week’s and more.”
She rose as his eyes closed and her small smile turned downwards. She pressed another kiss to Annabeth’s forehead. Percy blinked, but his eyelids fell further.
“We love you Percy. Sleep well, may this night be free of terrors.”
Nico & His Overbearing Step-Grandmother’s Love
Hades’ Castle, The Underworld
“Nico!!” The short black haired kid in his oversized black aviator’s jacket groaned. The ten foot tall woman with cascading golden hair wrapped her arms around him. Woman was a strong word for The Goddess of Agriculture, Harvest, and Seasons. He was lifted from the ground and groaned, he wasn’t going anywhere without Shadow Travel and he was fairly certain that if he did that Will and Reyna both would kill him then demand Hades resurrect him so they could yell at him.
“Mother put the boy down!” His rescuer was yet another Goddess he did his best to avoid. The Black and blonde haired Goddess was clad in one of her shadowy dresses and had atop her head the crown as Queen of The Underworld. With a huff Nico was thankfully placed back on the ground.
“You’re far too skinny, I had thought that with you being much better about your life choices that you would be taking better care of yourself for your Medic Boyfriend.” She held up a hand next to Nico which flashed green and a bowl filled with cereal was right there next to him. “Here eat this, you need to keep your strength I heard that you were participating in the next Chariot Race at Camp Half-Blood. Are you sure that it is wise? You could simply watch from stands and stay with Will.”
Nico bit down the groan that wormed its way up his throat. He took the bowl hoping that hopefully his Step-Grandmother would not continue to pester him.
“Lady Demeter-”
“Now Nico, what have I told you?”
“Grandmother Demeter I promise that the races are well prepared for. Plus if I don’t compete who is going to balance out Jason and Percy. Those two can’t just win another race without some kind of competition.” Demeter laughed.
“Of course, someone needs to keep those two boys in check. I just thought you would be better than to be dragged into their plots and arguments.” Nico blinked, spoon of cereal half raised to his lips. What?
“You thought they would leave me alone?” Demeter’s brown eyes narrowed on him. Oh no.
“Are they forcing you into this? I may like Perseus but I will smite him.”
“Mom! The Underworld cannot go to war with The Sea.”
“Now Persephone dear we all know that The Underworld is perfectly powerful enough to do it. However if you’re so adamant than perhaps I’ll just smite The Grace child. Hera will be on my side.”
“Mom!” Nico smiled, even if Persephone didn’t like him all the time it was nice to know there was at least one Goddess ready to go to bat for him… He can never let Percy or Jason find out though.
Reyna & Percy’s Queen Among Women Mother
Jackson-Blofis Apartment, New York
“Your mom is cool.” Sea green eyes met obsidian. The girl raised an eyebrow at him. “What Percy?”
“Reyna, you have been silent this entire time. I honestly thought something had happened to you.” Percy picked up another blue cookie and bit into it. Reyna reached over and snagged another off the plate.
“It can be awkward for me, meeting new people that is. I tend to either fight or command almost everyone I meet.” Percy nodded. With him she’d done both. “But by all the Gods I am serious. Your mother is cool.”
“She killed her abusive husband with Medusa’s head and sold his statue for the money.” Reyna stopped, half a cookie in hand and stared at him. Percy blinked, he thought she’d like that story. Or was it a tidbit? Man he wished Annabeth was here, she could tell him the word or words he was looking for.
“Your mom is the only goddess I’ll ever swear loyalty to.” Percy coughed as he nearly choked on a bit of blue chocolate chip cookie. Reyna smacked his back and dislodged any remaining chunks. He coughed a few more times before he looked up at her.
“Look Mom would love to hear you say that, I love to hear you say that. But I really do not need to anger The Roman half of The Pantheon anymore than I already have. Could you at least do me the solid of not risking your mother deciding she might need to smite me and my family?” Reyna let a smile rise on her face. She chomped down on the rest of the cookie.
“Perhaps…” Percy knew there was a but. Reyna and Annabeth were way too similar. “Only if you come back to New Rome and do your paperwork. I left it for you and told Frank not to touch it. Praetor Percy.”
He groaned and his head sank to the table. All the while behind them in the lights from the living room Bellona watched. She had always worried about her younger daughter. Hylla had found herself when she became Queen of The Amazons. Reyna though. Her youngest always seemed to be searching. She knew Venus’ curse… or perhaps prophecy, had also weighed heavily on Reyna. So of course she was concerned when she learned one of the two boys who had broken her heart had asked her over to his house. She couldn't not watch, ready to smite The Son of Poseidon and start a war for her little girl.
This however was an unexpected development. She guessed that for once Poseidon must have found the perfect mortal. Because Perseus Jackson was without a doubt the best of The Demigods and Demigoddesses she had ever met. The strength and power of The Sea mixed with the most caring and empathy she had ever seen in a mortal.
No, Perseus would not have to worry about her smiting him or his family. She spoke a few words and placed her hand upon the wall of the apartment. Because Reyna was right to shower such praise upon Sally Jackson-Blofis. Reyna was right to trust in and be friends with The Greek. Reyna was quite possibly not as lost as she had once thought. For those things alone she would offer her blessing to Perseus and his family, present and future.
Annabeth & Kidnappers Who Need A New Job
Jackson-Blofis Apartment, New York
“Hello?” Sally put down the grocery bags on the counter. Percy and Annabeth were supposed to be coming over for dinner tonight from college. The least she could do was go out and get some food to make a nice home cooked meal for them.
“We have your kid.” Echoed a deep mechanically intoned voice. Sally paused. Was this a monster trying to trick her? Or maybe a Deity angered by something one of the campers did? Did Percy make Zeus angry again? “If you want to see them alive again you’ll pay a sum of four thousand dollars in cash-”
“Which one?” Mortals, it was stupid mortals. Oh they had no idea what they were dealing with. Any of her kids, especially the ones she’d all but adopted from camp were no pushovers. There was a pause on the other end of the line. She heard muttered whispering. Oh and they weren’t even organised. She hoped they had one of The Big Three kids. They’d just take it as a joke. If they had a War Deities’ kid though…
“Um… blonde, feisty, curses with a passion.” They were done for. Annabeth would be insulted they even caught her, unless that was actually her plan. Sally shook her head. Annabeth could get out of this type of a situation blind.
“Oh you mean Annabeth!” Silence met her. Had they really not figured out her name yet? “Yeah no. You don’t have her… she has you.”
Screams echoed through the phone and then silence filled the line again not even a minute and a half later.
“Sally?”
“Hello Annabeth.”
“I am so sorry. I’m running a little bit late, is there anything I can pick up for you? Also Percy’s alright he got stopped by Rhodes and Kym who demanded Brother bonding time prior to dinner tonight.”
“I’m glad to hear it, if you would be so kind as to pick up cake mix, I think a nice blue cake is an ample reward for whatever you had to deal with. Also if you need help call Nico and don’t say anything else to me.” There were chuckles on the other side of the phone.
“I love you Sally. I’ll pick up some cake mix. Thanks for the tip. Bye!” A click and then silence again. Sally shook her head. She almost had a heart attack there, but mortals would always do something dumb. In fact the only person it would have been worse to abduct would have been Reyna. Then there would definitely be bodies that needed hiding. Maybe she should put this into her next book, add a bit of comedic levity?
Will & His Father Having Dumb Answers to Questions
Camp Half-Blood, Long Island Sound
“Alright, who's ready for father-kid bonding time!” Apollo paused. His cabin was all but empty. In fact only one blonde haired kid was present. He checked behind the door and into the shadows. Nope no other kids around. “Okay please tell me I didn’t miss something. There hasn’t been another war right?”
The blonde haired boy raised his head from where he was packing up a supply bag. The blue eyed boy cocked an eyebrow at him and slung his bag over his shoulder.
“No dad, but we decided since technically you aren’t supposed to interact with us we would all go down to The Archery Range. You could teach class for all of us and some of the other campers and then you wouldn’t get in trouble.” Apollo looked back out the door and spotted a whole cohort’s worth of children at the range. His lips pulled into a smile.
“That was very kind of you Will, let me guess, Hermes’ kids had this idea?”
“Nope.” Will popped the p as he spoke and smiled brightly at Apollo. “This one was all me, so tell me, how does it feel to have the awesomest child?”
“I dunno son, probably best to ask my dad. Ya know, Zeus.” Will raised an eyebrow at him again. Apollo picked a mug of coffee out of the air and took a swig.
“I guess you’re right. Aunt Artemis is pretty cool.” Apollo spit the hot liquid straight from his mouth. He began to cough as some of the coffee decided to go down the wrong pipe. One of the bushes rustled and then a girl no older than twelve in a silver jacket with a bow and quiver on her back stood pointing at him. Oh no.
“Choke on that!” Artemis rushed over as he sputtered and sucked down air. Will gave a cheeky smile.
“Oh did I forget to mention that The Hunters are here? Thalia is leading Capture the Flag tonight.” Will then turned and charged towards the range. Apollo groaned. He’d have to make sure none of his kids made a mistake. Whatever was left of his honour was on the line. He glanced at Artemis’ retreating form. Yeah The Hunters were probably about to win again.
+1: Percy & The Athena Kids
Camp Half-Blood, Long Island Sound
“Hey where do you need this?” Percy glanced around the cabin. Most of Annabeth’s siblings were lost deep within their projects. So the most he got was mumbled ‘hello Percy’ from them. Annabeth came in right on his tail and moved towards her bunk. He followed and set down the box filled with scrolls next to it. Something caught his eye though.
Percy turned around and walked back into the main section where he caught sight of a photo. Specifically his photo, one of the ones where he and Annabeth had gotten surprised by some of the other Campers near the lake. He was circled in bright red with a bunch of arrows. The text written above and below made his eyes water.
‘Brother Percy, Official Spider Killer.’ He turned and looked at Annabeth. She was still buried in her project. He leaned down and kissed her check.
“I have to go, I’m pretty sure if I stay here too long Athena will smite me.” Annabeth blinked and looked up at the rapidly retreating form of her boyfriend. Then she caught sight of the photo on the corkboard and her cheeks blazed. Her siblings had done that right before Percy had disappeared. Maybe it would be better if they didn’t flaunt their relationship for a while in Athena’s direct holy spaces. Annabeth did not need another disappearing Percy act.
