Ren sat in her bed that night, playing through Arsène’s words over and over like a broken record. It would have been one thing if she had hated it and the persona had slipped up once. It would have been another if she had hated it and the persona would continue misgendering her for the foreseeable future. Either of those options would have easily been preferable to what she was dealing with. Her real issue lay not with the use of male pronouns but with the fact she liked it.
