With shaky resolve, Lee inched closer, his breath mingling with Bill’s as their noses almost brushed. His heart pounding, eyes searching the older man's face for any trace of a lie, some hint that this was just another trick from the same man who’d played him so many times before. Lee noticed the way Bill’s eyes flicked to his lips, but the former outlaw didn’t move. He just waited, like he was giving the redhead all the space he needed.
“You sure?” Lee asked tentatively, as if still fearing the other man’s feelings would turn out to be nothing but a cruel joke, a trap ready to snap shut the moment he let himself be vulnerable.
