Summary
Steve’s hands are everywhere, stroking down his arms, carding through his hair. He slumps into the warmth offered, skin against skin.
“Shush,” Steve whispers, and it’s only then that Bucky recognizes the frightened sounds escaping his throat. He’s not scared, is he? Why would he be? Steve’s here. “It’s alright… I’ve got you.”
They rock back and forth, the motion turning Bucky’s focus to something syrupy and slow.
He blinks, the world darkening between one moment and the next. Steve brushes fingers down his brow, fluttering feather-light over his eyes and the bridge of his nose. “Sleep. We’ll try again.”
The rhythm of Steve’s heartbeat against Bucky’s chest is steady, a metronome that guides him back to calm.
