“That’s why you called me out here as if it’s a parent-teacher conference?” Daniel asks, annoyed. “To tell me [Armand’s] volatility makes him weak?”
“He’s unbalanced,” Petronia clarifies. “He’s worried about the fledglings and your mortal daughter. But Marius’s connection to this—”
“Is a big fucking problem, yeah,” Daniel says. “It’s the most likely thing to mess him up on top of the wider implications. I’ve got his back.”
Petronia nods, striding off the steps and into the shadows. “That’s all Sam needs to hear,” they say, rising toward the sky. “Thank you, Daniel.”
“What, that I’ll prevent him from having a meltdown so he can be the ruthless soldier?” Daniel calls after them. “Tell Sam to fuck off!”
