Summary
The Watcher's mission to Kilima was supposed to be easy. She was just a small part of a much larger investigation into the Human Reemergence, and this was just a small village.
The cook's mission was to watch the Watcher. His life belongs to the Cartel and his sister's life relied on the Flow that the Cartel provided him. He had to know if the Order was catching on to the illegal activity flowing through the underbelly of the village.
As their missions went on, Reth and Subira became more and more drawn to each other. The time they spent together was easy and comfortable. They made each other feel seen, understood, and less alone.
