Husk doesn’t reply. He doesn’t have much to say, especially not to this stranger. Angel seems to take that personally, even though that’s just how Husk is.
“Ya always this talkative?”
Husk rolls his eyes. “Don’t think we have much in common, kid.”
After spending 12 years in prison, Angel is a free man—mostly. Husk is a single dad with a custody agreement to fulfill. When they meet at an overwhelmingly Christian support group for addiction counseling, they bond over being the odd men out… in more ways than one.
Inevitably, though, the consequences of their messy pasts start to collapse around them. Cemented by religious and sexual trauma, there seems to be little place else to go but rock bottom. Their sobriety, families, and freedoms hang in the balance—but maybe, the pair find solace.
For better or worse, they have each other. Right?
