our little touches, a secret we keep close to our hearts.

Summary:

elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder, sheng wang crosses the line again. like dancing in this flower garden, sheng wang holds onto jiang tian in this fragile thread of longing.

or sheng wang watches jiang tian sleeping and ends up falling in love—again.

Work Text:

it's always so amusing to witness the tight-knit of jiang tian's brows whenever he does something intimate in broad daylight—or silly and obnoxious, as jiang tian words his actions out, shaking his head in disbelief, joking and teasing him to oblivion. but jiang tian can't hide that small smile from cracking the cold facade of his stoic demeanour, and sheng wang isn't a lovestruck fool not to notice those little gems.

class A becomes a barren land as the evening sun rolls by, a known secret amid the distant liveliness.

as another long week of labour-intense mock tests ends, students are free to unwind for the weekend. some of them are already packing their bags to head home, untangling the burnt knots in their emptying brains by watching tv or sleeping the nightmare away. some are seizing this golden opportunity to visit the nearby restaurants, filling their tummies with delicious food and good company, forgetting the loitering what-ifs of the questions trying to guilt-trip them for the rest of the short holiday.

while, for some, like sheng wang and jiang tian, staying in this quiet classroom, treasuring another stolen moment of being together for the rest of the week by sitting close to each other, sharing the same earpiece, heavy heads resting against the table, finally at peace, is the best thing to do after all those ruckuses.

jiang tian has his eyes closed, and sheng wang misses the sparkle in them. all those days of separation, of being a floor apart, of going to sleep before they could hug or kiss the stress away made sheng wang yearn for more of jiang tian. is that even possible?

so he touches jiang tian's face. traces the bag under his eyes, the sharp tip of his nose, the bow of his lips, and the bone of his cheek. his fingers tremble as they come in contact with jiang tian's skin, sensing the rush of adrenaline overflowing—this young love wants so much more than mere touches, desires something more than only this and that

maybe sheng wang is just overreacting (he is), but he truthfully misses jiang tian.

the music becomes a white noise in his ears, buzzing with the thundering staccato of his heart. sheng wang carefully scoots closer, careful not to make a sound, and allows their shoes to meet under the table.

elbow to elbow, shoulder to shoulder, sheng wang crosses the line again. like dancing in this flower garden, sheng wang holds onto jiang tian in this fragile thread of longing. tip-toeing from one end to the other to keep his lover safe and sound from the clamour and madness. in this shelter of a place, sheng wang calls home, his awaiting embrace.

and his heart blossoms as jiang tian slowly opens his eyes.

"......wangzai?" jiang tian groggily calls, his gaze unfocused. sleep marks are temporary tattoos on the right side of his face, stretching from the corner of his eyes to the edge of his mouth.

sheng wang laughs—his heart races.

cute.

jiang tian is even more confused, sitting straight, his back resting flat against the wooden chair. he almost pulls sheng wang along, and the shared earpiece falls from jiang tian's ear, dangling between them.

the elder looks around, examining the quietness engulfing the scenario beyond this vast space. his gaze lands on sheng wang anew, asking, "how long was i asleep?"

sheng wang answers, grinning sheepishly, "an hour, maybe."

"and you didn't wake me up?"

"you looked like a baby, sleeping so soundly like that. how could i ever wake you up?"

jiang tian grunts, brushing the remnants of sleep away from his eyes. he looks at sheng wang again, stating, "you could've just woken me. we could head back to the dorm right away. aren't you tired too?"

and sheng wang professes, his heart is now on his sleeves, "i just want to be here. with you."

the breeze befalls them anew. the same flutter of spring air that forges their souls together, under the azure lights and glimmering stars, this gust of fate ties them into another knot, their hearts becoming one once more, never asunder.

bemused, jiang tian expresses, "but we're always together."

sheng wang dares himself again, pulling jiang tian's hand down, tangling their fingers under the table, a secret they will cherish for as long as they can.

sheng wang purses his lips, faking annoyance, looking everywhere but at jiang tian as he answers, "so what? i just want to be with you, my boyfriend, again. every second. every minute. every hour. every day. is that so wrong?"

jiang tian studies him. unravels the hidden desire, the wordless infatuation, the unspoken affection, all from sheng wang's rapidly-blinking eyes, slightly trembling fingers and quivering lips, not knowing what ghost has possessed him into another sober yet drunk confession.

but jiang tian is always gentle with him, always so loving and understanding and perfect for sheng wang.

he squeezes sheng wang's hands, the only answer he needs.

"i didn't know you were the clingy type," jiang tian jokes, pressing the right buttons of sheng wang's insanity remote, cornering him to the edge of rationality.

sheng wang rolls his eyes. "i can't believe you still dare to tease me like this! ge!"

and jiang tian melts

so he steals a kiss from sheng wang's puckered lips, only a touch, a sign that he misses him too. just because.

sheng wang freezes in his seat. jiang tian chortles.

"are we going to stay here forever?" jiang tian asks, gazing at their entwined hands under the table, waiting for sheng wang in the middle.

and sheng wang kisses him square on the lips—just because he can—just because he will.

red colours the clouds of sheng wang's cheeks, but he's gripping jiang tian's hand still, moving them around, masking the embarrassment with aloofness, "let's go?"

"okay," jiang tian says, following sheng wang wherever he goes, wherever he wants them to be, caressing the hill and valley of his hands as he repeats, "okay."

jiang tian can't stop laughing. and sheng wang won't stop falling, heels over head, enamoured and enchanted, so captivated and charmed—in love with him.
