Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

A day before classes start, a perfect time to begin moving in all of belongings and settling down onto the new campus. Mizi was moving in today, so maybe he’ll stop by and visit her? Or maybe she’ll be too busy unpacking and meeting her roommate..? That’s if he finishes unpacking tonight, he didn’t want to admit it but he may have gone a little overboard.

His bags weren't light, not at all, he had so many clothes and art supplies, after all he didn’t want to leave all his important things at home with his adoptive douche bag. Hell, that idiots probably scouring his room right now, looking for an excuse to yell at his ass.

God he hated that asshole. Thank god he didn’t have to return home for at least a year. Till was already ready to block his number so he wasn’t harassed with many phone calls. This year he wanted to focus on himself, and his own education. Focus on building his career and future.

That being said, he was glad he packed all the alcohol he had stashed away in his room, in one of his many bags. Till wasn’t a massive drinker, however he enjoyed a few drinks every now and again. And God forbid he left any evidence behind of half empty bottles, his head would be gone.

A few times he had been absolutely wasted in his home, mostly after screaming matches with his adoptive dad, who loved to blame him for the finest of things. Of course, Urak noticed and tried to find the evidence, but Till was extremely smart with where he hid the bottles.

Dragging all of his bags into the elevator with a relieved sigh, he looked around catching his breath.. It sure seemed empty? Was no one else rushing? Till thought he’d see all kinds of people running around trying to find their rooms.

Luckily, Till had spent the past few days memorising the door number. Although it was difficult with an overbearing asshole constantly in his ear, yelling at him for things he didn’t do. The dickhead also tried monitoring everything Till packed, even though he was 19. It was none of his business as to what Till wanted to pack.

It didn’t take long for him to arrive at his designated dorm, considering all the bags he was dragging along. Stopping outside the door for a moment, he began to wonder if his roommate would already be inside unpacking? Would his roommate even be here yet? Clearly he must’ve been early, and he didn’t hear any noise on the other side of the door, so probably not.

Twisting the lock open, he stumbled inside, allowing all of his bags to landslide off his shoulders. His shoulders ached with a dull pain, fingers tingling from going slightly numb. Sighing in relief, he breathed heavily, not realising how bad his body ached until the weight had all been realised,

Maybe he over packed? Or was too stubborn to make more than one trip. Like hell he wanted to go back to that house more than necessary. Either, he was an absolute idiot for carrying it all in one go.

He would look around the dorm in a moment, but right now he was bent over, hands gripping his knees and he huffed for more air in his lungs. Maybe he overestimated his strength.. It’s not like he was struggling the entire time, his arms just felt like they were going to fall off of his body at any moment.

Yeah, he definitely over packed.

“Did you carry all of that up yourself?” A voice called out to him, sounding slightly concerned but also impressed at the same time.

Startled out of his heavy breathing, he looked up, seeing the figure behind the voice standing in the kitchen, presumably holding a glass of water.

If Till wasn’t out of breath before, he certainly was now. The guy had an amazing build, a tight compression shirt slimming his form. The unknown man must’ve been slightly taller than himself, however his proportions were balanced perfectly. His jawline looked as though it could cut through diamonds effortlessly. Coal black hair framed his face, and looked so soft he just wanted to reach out and ruffle it.

Those eyes.. so dark, brooding beads of obsidian watching his every move. As if they were tracking how his chest rose and fell in an attempt to catch his breath.

Till wasn’t gay, but he could definitely appreciate a good looking guy.

The words spoken to him finally registered in his mind, straightening his posture up and looking around briefly, feeling slightly unnerved under his gaze, “Uh yeah.. Yeah I did..” He muttered.

“Wow, you must be stronger than me,” the mysterious man laughed. As Till looked over, he could see a jagged tooth sticking out.. Did he get into fights? Or was it just naturally like that? He half prayed it was the latter, he didn’t want some careless gangsta as his roommate.

“I’m Ivan, and I would hope you’re my roommate?” Ivan joked, taking a few steps closer before sipping on his drink, looking the other up and down.

“Till… my names Till..” He muttered out awkwardly, feeling slightly tense as he approached. Once he settled down he would be fine, he was still adjusting right now. For now, he slowly kicked off his shoes, letting them land wherever in front of the door.

“Right… Till, how come you waited so late to move in? Pretty much everyone here moved in three days ago?” He asked, tilting his head slightly in confusion, the amused expression from before melting off his face.

“W-What?! I could've done all of this sooner?! Are you kidding me?!” Till huffed, taking a further look around the dorm. It certainly made sense, after all this place was furnished and incredibly tidy. It also answered his question as to why no one else was in the halls.

Curse his life, he could’ve moved away from that idiot sooner?

“Well… at least you’re here now?” Ivan offered with a small laugh, placing down his empty glass and instead replacing it with two of Tills bags, “Damn, these are heavy. Did you rob a bank?” He joked, before walking off with his bags.

”What are you doing?! And it’s just art stuff! Why would I rob a bank?” He huffed, following after the taller man leading his stuff away. Who just does that?

Ivan swung open a door and dumped the bags onto a empty bed, turning around with a small smile, Till instantly noticing the pointy fang showing. But something about it seemed fake, like he had been practicing how to smile? Maybe Till was just delirious from carrying all the heavy luggage.

”You carried your bags all the way up here, i might as help out.”

Till honestly didn’t know what to expect, of course his roommate wasn’t just picking up his stuff and stealing it? Who would even do that. Nodding slightly, he moved aside to allow Ivan to grab his last bag, not daring to make any eye contact.

Walking into the joint kitchen and living room, he looked around, admiring some of the decorations in place. Paintings, candles, very obviously fake plants. Sitting down on the edge of the sofa, he watched Ivan pick up his discarded drink.

”Did you do all of this?” Till asked, running his palm across the fabric of the sofa he sat himself on, pretty impressed with the quality.

”Yeah, my dad has a lot of money and kept on saying the key to good studying is a good environment… He wouldn’t drop it so I just let him do whatever..” Ivan shrugged, tracing his finger around the rim of his glass, seeming unimpressed.

Till hummed in acknowledgment, but realistically began to worry. Was this guy some spoiled brat? He couldn’t stand people who just relied on their families for money, thinking that’ll get them anything in life. God he didn’t want to hear any whining to daddy if things didn’t go his way, or pleading to raise his grade with a few thousand.

Maybe it’s because Till never had that, but regardless he hated the thought. How hard was it to achieve your own things? No one needed fancy things, or to drown problems in nothing but money-

A glass being placed down in front of him knocked him out of his thoughts. Looking up, he saw Ivan stood over him, smiling softly.

”I assume you’re going to the party tonight? Its over at the girls dorms since they get away with more… start drinking it’ll ease the nerves..” Ivan smiled, before walking back into the kitchen to get his own.

Raising an eyebrow, Till leaned forward and picked up the glass… A party? He didn’t know about this? Surely he should go, especially if everyone else is going… Maybe he’ll message Mizi and see if she’s going, after all she’s staying in the girls dorm.

Sipping on his drink, he began patting around for his phone, before choking slightly.

That was not water.

”You idiot! Where was the warning?” Till coughed, managing to swallow the poison in his glass. All he got in response was a small laugh, along with the sound of more alcohol being poured.

”What did you think it was? I said there was a party, not a church event.” Ivan laughed, sipping on his new drink as he leaned across the counter, a soft expression on his face.

Pouting slightly, Till took another sip from his drink, before grabbing his phone and loading up his contacts.

Till: Hey Mizi! Are you going to that party tonight? I heard it’s at the girls dorm!

Just the thought of her made his heart ache slightly, she was so beautiful and perfect.. He’d known her since high school, and was so delighted to hear she was coming to this university. Just being with her every day made classes bearable. Usually he got irritated by the tiniest things, however having her sat near him calmed him down.

His attention was immediately drawn to his phone screen lighting up, scrambling to read the message instantly,

Mizi <3: Ofc i’m going, the party is in my dorm. Me and my roommate decide to host it :)

Till’s eyes widened in shock… He never expected Mizi to throw a welcoming party… Maybe it was her roommates idea? Either way he was definitely showing up now. Nothing could stop him.

”Is that your girlfriend?” A voice echoed from above him, and suddenly Till was drawn to the figure standing over him, trying to read his messages.

Quickly turning off his phone screen, he nudged the other away, furrowing his eyebrows, “Mind your business! You cant just look at other peoples messages.” Tull argued.

“Sorry, i didn’t realise it was so personal..” Ivan hummed, sipping on his drink as he looked elsewhere. The silence was slightly awkward.. Maybe Till shouldn’t of lashed out suddenly, however this guy was being a creep.

“I’m going to get dressed for the party… Is that what you’re wearing?” Till frowned, looking the other up and down as he stood up, silently judging him. With a compression shirt like that all the ladies would be hanging off his biceps. God, Till dreaded to think of what a player he was.

He better not have already brought girls over for sex. And it better not be a regular occurrence. Till enjoyed his privacy and enjoyed his sleep, the last thing he needed was this selfish prick keeping him awake all night. Till shuddered at the thought.

”What? No, of course not. I was just about to change myself.” He smiled, putting down his empty glasses, “Is it cool if we leave in 10 minutes? Id like to get there a little before hand.” He smiled, scratching the back of his neck nervously.

Till sighed and rolled his eyes, what a charmer, “Yeah whatever.” He huffed, making his way towards his room. Well, the room Ivan had dumped all of his stuff in. So much for packing away all of his things… but it was Mizi, and she was way more important than organisation.

Making sure his door was completely shut, he began rummaging through his clothes bag, trying to find something suitable to wear. Surely he must of packed something remotely party ready. Something that appealed to Mizi too.

Finally, he found something decent. A pale grey tank shop with a graffiti pattern overlaid, paired with black skinny jeans which had multiple zips and attachments all around. Surely this will do? It’ll be like a house party, not some fancy social event. Hopefully mr daddy’s money understands that.

Once he was changed, he looked himself over in the mirror for a few moments, straightening out his hair and making sure it laid right. He wouldn’t embarrass himself in front of Mizi, and whoever her new roommate was.

Stepping out of his room, he immediately noticed his own roommate stood by the front door, adjusting a watch on his wrist.

The guy had a black button down shirt on, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and multiple buttons undone. His chest was basically exposed. His trousers were basic dress pants, black and pressed nicely. His hair was combed almost perfectly, expect for a few strands which seemed purposely places over his eyes.

Till scoffed slightly, moving over to put his shoes on, looking Ivan up and down once again, “You know it’s a party right? Not some fancy dress up?” he amused, raising an eyebrow as if the other was some unintelligent idiot.

Ivan cocked his head to the side slightly, he had already put on his shoes, “I’m aware.. I would never wear this to a fancy dinner?” He questioned, seemingly confused why Till seemed to have a problem with how he presented himself.

Rolling his eyes, Till stepped towards the door, having to slightly look up at the other, “Come on then.” He sighed, gesturing for Ivan to open the door.

Still slightly confused, Ivan opened the door and stepped out, stuffing his key into his back pocket. Till shortly followed, closing the door behind him and making sure it shut properly. Wouldn’t want any of daddy’s belongings to go missing. How tragic that would be.

They bath began walking to the elevator in an awkward silence. Till didn’t exactly care, however having constant arguments with his roommate probably wouldn’t be beneficial. He could just imagine the nightmare that would be. Sighing, he turned to look at Ivan, he seemed to be lost in thought.

”Don’t go bringing back any girls. I don’t want to get involved with your sex life, so do it somewhere else alright? It’s the last thing I want to here.” Till huffed, probably not a good start to repairing the awkwardness… however at least he was setting his boundaries.

As Ivan pressed for the elevator, he chuckled slightly, shaking his head in disbelief, which only made Till grow more annoyed. Who does this dick think he is? That he can do whatever he wants just because he comes from a rich background.

Till still received no answer until they were stood side by side in the elevator, watching the doors close slowly. How did he get paired with such a arrogant guy? What did he do to deserve this?

”You wont have to worry about me bringing girls home. After all, I have no interested in making love with a woman. I’m gay.”

His words were so calm, almost rehearsed. As if he had gone over this scenario over and over again in his head, waiting for the perfect opportunity to tell him.

Till couldn’t believe what he had just heard… Was he too judgemental? Should he have kept his mouth shut? Or was he right to voice his concerns about the cocky guy? The elevator was thick with tension, almost like Till couldn’t breath.

After what felt like an eternity, the doors opened and Ivan calmly walked out, waiting for Till to join him. This was going to be an awkward walk from here on.
