Work Text:
Not much is known about doppelgangers, but much is fabricated. Which had been his every intention. Klaus never wanted anyone to know more about the creatures then he did. Over the centuries, if anyone grew too close to the truth they met their end with claw and fang. In their death, misinformation spread.
Mystic Falls, as a result, knew not the creature they harbored in their midst.
A siren song crafted from notes straight out of the maw of hell. Dark hair, dark eyes, and an even darker heart. A monster that knew no satisfaction for her endless want to wear the skin of a harmless girl - it was abhorrent.
This provincial town was wasted on talents such as hers. Watching her through these false eyes as she paraded amongst vile humanity commits him to her abduction. Her freedom from the shackles of expectations placed on her by those beneath them.
Her true power locked away. A blood sacrifice that would consume life as she knew it. In this way, they would shape each other into their perfect selves.
At his side.
The mother of monsters.
A harbinger of a new age.
The final, fated doppelganger.
“Elena,” he grins.
