Pearl was calmly walking across the dark server. She liked the earlier sessions and was grateful that the wildcard was over. She greedily ate normal food as she walked. She could still feel a dull stinging in her throat. She remembered the cold feeling of the diamond as she heard the explos- Pearl decided not to think about that. She ended up at Gem and Joel’s base. She didn’t know how she ended up there, but didn’t mind it. She cautiously opened the door to the house and saw Gem lying down. Her eyes were open and lazily drifted over to the door.
“… Pearl.”
“Gem Gem,” Pearl responded with a small giggle. “Wanna come outside mate? It’s great!”
“I just laid down though…” despite her whine of annoyance Gem sat up. She glared at Pearl and stumbled over. “What do you want?”
“To see you.”
“And?” Gem sighed, “I’m tired and petty.”
“Petty ‘bout what?” Pearl circled Gem. Gem kept an eye on her as she did so. “I didn’t ever do nothing.”
“… you- y-“ Gem buried her face in her hands, “Ugh! Do you not get it!? ”
Pearl paused and hesitantly looked down at Gem with a worried expression. She would’ve moved Gem’s hands in any other situation, but thought now might not be a good time. She responded, “Get… um- what?”
“Pearl! Oh- Pearl you idiot! Do you not realize why I’m upset? Last season I thought we were friends- murder camel and all! Then you just teamed with Scar and betrayed me!” Gem shouted. Her words came out too harsh than she meant but didn’t care. Her hands had gone to her sides as she spoke.
Pearl flinched back more than she would admit at Gem’s outburst. After tensing she relaxed as she understood Gem. “Look mate… that- that happens all the time. One alliance had to be broken, our’s or mine and Scar’s. Scar- Scar was an… extra mounder. He was all I had left. Someone- someone had to die. You just…” Pearl trailed off as she wrapped her arms around herself and looked down in guilt.
“Did you not have me? I…” Gem huffed and pinched the bridge of her nose. “… I’m going back to sleep.”
“Ge-“ Pearl was cut off by the door slamming shut as Gem stormed into her base. She sighed and rubbed her eyes, realizing her own exhaustion. She went ahead and left to her own base.
