Leon likes to admire Merlin when he does the simplest of magical acts
Written for Merleon, Day 5. Magic

Notes:

It halloween night, and I'm pulling an all nighter in my grandparents living room! So oneshots here I come!!! I am mildly dyslexic, slightly sleep deprived, and slightly tipsy, so be warned there could be errors ahead.
Enjoy

Work Text:

Merlin had sat Leon down once, before they'd made anything official about their relationship, and told him the truth. He'd been terrified to do it, but he refused to commit to Leon with such a big secret holding him back. Leon had taken it better than he'd expected. In fact, he'd already suspected but had wanted Merlin to come to him when he was ready.

Now, Merlin's magic was like a secret between them that brought them closer. It was something so simple, yet so extraordinaire.

Leon found something simplistically beautiful in the small acts of magic Merlin performed around him. They were sat in Merlin's room together, while Gaius was out and Merlin was lucky to have a break without having to lie about what he was doing. Both of them knew that moment wouldn't last long, but it was peaceful nonetheless.

Merlin's room wasn't exactly the cleanest, though Leon never bothered to point it out. He was busy. Leon could understand that, between tending to Arthur's needs, the other duties he'd picked up in the castle, being Gaius's apprentice, and saving Camelot from the near constant onslaught of attacks, Merlin didn't exactly have the time to just clean up after himself.

He wasn't sure if it was the clear display of trust, or the simple display and use of magic, that made Leon stop and admire it. Merlin's eyes turned gold when he did magic, and it suited him. It was like, at least in Leon's opinion, Merlin's eyes were meant to be gold. It just looked right on him.

With a flick of his hand, and a barely muttered word, Merlin's pile of clothes folded themselves and packed away into the wardrobe. Leon didn't comment, Merlin flustered anytime he did. While he liked that view, he much preferred Merlin at ease. The way he was then, leant into Leon's side, he didn't want to ruin that. If he could spend the rest of his life cuddled together on Merlin's small, lumpy mattress, he gladly would.

It'd be even better if he got to watch the simplistic bits of magic Merlin performed with barely a thought. It was a show of trust first and foremost, which Leon could appreciate for the gift it was. It was a show of strength and power as well, and Leon was happy to watch in awe at the ease at which Merlin did most things magic. It was also a show of natures beauty, and Leon was more than happy to witness that.

"This is nice," Merlin muttered, as he flicked his wrist and a broom started to sweep the floor.

"It is," Leon agreed. Merlin's eyes had gone back to blue, but Leon could still see little flecks of gold. He wished there was a way he could capture that perfectly to admire when he was away from Merlin. Merlin smiled at him, and Leon smiled back.

Notes:

Short, sweet and simple, just what I wanted to write. I hope you liked it!! If you did, I'd really appreciate any comments or kudos :)
