Work Text:

     “I got my tongue pierced!”

Snotlout turned from where everyone- barring Tuffnut, who was standing in the doorway of the clubhouse- was seated around the table eating breakfast.

Astrid immediately stood and made her way over to Tuff. “Are you okay? What happened?”

“Are you hurt?” Hiccup chimed in.

“You misunderstand me, riders.” Tuff announced in a grandiose voice. “I have done it on purpose.”

“Why would you do it on purpose?” Fishlegs asked. He was looking at Tuffnut scrutinizingly. Tuffnut stuck his tongue out, showing off the small metal rod smack dab in the middle.

Snotlout couldn’t seem to tear his eyes off of it. Something about it, maybe the unique look, maybe the way it made Tuffnut’s mouth suddenly new  and unexplored, had heat rushing through Snotlout’s body.

Ruffnut appeared to have caught on to what her brother was saying. “Oh! Like how some vikings pierce their ears with little metal balls like that! But why?”

“Why? She asks why. I’ll tell you why!“ Tuffnut scoffed. “It’s cool! That’s why.”

Ruffnut noticed Snotlout furiously blushing and snorted, subtly nudging Tuffnut and gesturing to his boyfriend. Tuffnut grinned.

Snotlout snapped back to reality as Tuffnut plopped down next to him and stole a piece of his bread.

     “Hey! Get your own plate.”

Tuffnut shrugged. “Can’t. Gotta be careful with what I eat. Don’t want to mess with the piercing too much before it’s healed. Hence, I can only have a small breakfast.”

Snotlout huffed. Truth be told, that tongue piercing was sinfully distracting. But Snotlout was a Jorgenson, and Jorgensons were nothing if not emotionally repressed. The fact that Snotlout was feeling anything at all made him angry.

And Tuffnut? Tuffnut pissed Snotlout off. No matter what, Snotlout couldn’t seem to shake his feelings for him. He would even go as far as to say he was in love with Tuff. Tuffnut knew this. Over the months that they’d been on Dragon’s Edge, Tuff had helped him work through some of the emotional abuse and neglect he had internalized from his father. But it was a long process, and Snotlout was nowhere near being done. He knew that he had to be patient and kind to himself.

That didn’t make it any less frustrating.

Breakfast passed in a cycle of Tuffnut telling stories and making the group laugh, Snotlout staring at Tuff’s mouth as he talked, Snotlout catching himself staring and turning bright red and focusing back on his food, and Tuffnut continuing to talk with that damned tongue piercing.

Snotlout was finding it progressively harder to stay focused on anything. His thoughts kept on turning back to a certain blonde with a certain piece of metal in his mouth. Snotlout thought about it as he was polishing his axe. He thought about it as he was running drills. And now, he was thinking about it as he was washing Hookfang.

If Snotlout was being perfectly honest, he really wanted to feel that piercing against his own tongue. Not to mention against… other parts. He and Tuff had been dating for the last couple months, and Snotlout was slowly accepting that he was allowed to have emotions, and allowed to act on them. It wasn’t shameful, or unmanly, or anything else Spitelout had drilled into his head.

As if Snotlout had summoned him, Tuffnut sauntered into the stable.

“Hey Snotty,” he called, “How’s it going? The Fangmeister giving you any trouble?”

Hookfang cooed at Tuffnut. Snotlout could swear that that little traitor liked Tuffnut more than he liked his own rider.

“It’s going fine,” Snotlout settled on. He took a few steps closer to Tuffnut, then looked away bashfully. Tuffnut chuckled slightly, and Snotlout could feel his breath.

Snotlout looked up to see Tuffnut right in front of him. Honestly, the sight always took his breath away, but Snotlout did his best to hide it. It made him feel weak.

—pov switch—

Tuffnut grinned. He opened his mouth to speak, watching with amusement as Snotlout zeroed in on his tongue.

     “You almost finished here?”

“Yeah! Yeah, I’m practically done,” he most definitely wasn’t, “I can finish this up later. Did you need something?”

The entranced look on Snotlout’s face turned Tuffnut on a little more than he’d like to admit.

“Oh, nothing really..” Tuffnut murmured as he finally closed the gap between them.

Snotlout sighed in relief when Tuffnut kissed him. He’d been anticipating this all day, and it did not disappoint. Snotlout carefully prodded Tuffnut’s lips with his tongue until the taller boy parted them, and Snotlout was almost immediately licking into his mouth, feeling over the little bit of metal. He seemed to focus on it with a one track kind of determination, and after watching his human disaster of a boyfriend over breakfast, Tuff wasn’t surprised.

Tuffnut let out a happy hum as Snotlout sucked lightly on his tongue. He felt as Snotlout’s big hands went to his waist, pulling him closer. Tuffnut touched Snotlout’s cheek gently, weaving his other hand through his dark hair.

Then Tuff bit Snotlout’s lower lip, and Snotlout gasped and clutched him tightly. Tuff couldn’t help but arch against his body and draw him in as close as possible.

Tuffnut was just about to suggest they go back to Snotlout’s hut when someone cleared their throat behind him.

Tuff broke off with a whine of “Oh, come on!” as he turned to see who it was. “Astriddd!”

Snotlout sprung from Tuff, panic etched onto his face. He took a deep breath, visibly reminding himself that everything was okay. His hand hesitantly slipped into Tuffnut’s.

“Well, maybe now Snotlout can get out of whatever funk he’s been in and actually be able to be a functioning member of society.” Astrid mumbled to herself, grabbing Stormfly from her stall and making to leave. She passed Ruffnut on the way out, who snorted and called to her, “Not a chance! Have you seen this dumbass? He’ll be all over my brother for weeks because of this!”

Tuffnut fondly readjusted Snotlout’s helmet, then turned to his sister and charged at her with a guttural cry.

As the twins began wrestling, Snotlout slowly walked back to Hookfang and picked up his brush. Hookfang blew smoke into his rider’s face, but he just waved it away, not breaking from his daze.

Now he really wanted to know what that piercing felt like against other places.

Notes:

there are NOT enough tufflout fics so i decided to take matters into my own hands
