Chapter Text
“So you want me to come to South America to train a ground assault force to take over Gotham?” Slade Wilson leans back in his chair, one eyebrow raised, as he scrutinizes the masked figure on the video call. “Why would you want to take over that shithole? And why not focus on somewhere with less of a bat infestation?”
“The why’s aren’t important. Can you do it? I’d be paying you your fair share,” replies the masked man. He’s new to the villain scene, and that makes Slade itchy. But the money is good.
“I’ll only do it if I get a shot at the Bat.”
The masked figure leans closer, his expression hidden, but his arrogance palpable. “The way I hear it, you already had your shot and lost.”
“A fluke,” Slade growls, clenching his fists. “He won’t know what hit him this time.”
“Sign the contract, and you’ll have your chance. But I get first dibs.”
Slade grimaces. He’d rather avoid Gotham and this upstart altogether, but the prospect of a rematch with Batman is too enticing to pass up. With a begrudging sigh, he signs the contract, already picturing the chaos to come.
