Fang’s jealousy

Summary:

As Fang was standing he stared at the girl, now staring isn’t what he actually did, he glared at her. She was also very pretty, but who would care about that.
He loves Tan. Fang loves Tan.

Aka The jealous Fang scene we were all missing in We are.

Work Text:

Fang was tapping his fingers nervously against his thigh. Playing with a button on his shirt. He played with them almost aggressively, thoughts racing in his mind.

What could he do?

His fingers tangled and then he dug his nails into his own skin. His breath was quicker than usual.

The signs which usually pointed to his anxious perfectionism, now were caused by completely different emotion.

Why did his boyfriend had to be so handsome? And extroverted and extremely friendly? Oh, how much he hated how lovable his boyfriend was.

As Fang was standing he stared at the girl, now staring isn’t what he actually did, he glared at her. If his eyes could kill, she’s be dead. She was also very pretty, but who would care about that.

He loves Tan. Fang loves Tan.

But this stupid girl happened to not know it, or maybe she knew but she ignored it. At that though Fang tightened his fists.

”Fang, can you explain the entrance process to this lovely nong?” Kluen pulled him out of his racing thoughts.

Right, today was the university’s Open day. Basically anyone who’s interested in studying here can come, ask about anything, take a look around the building and listen to some lecture about the school history and future. All faculties had their little booths in the area in front of the university, where normally cars were parked, was now established a pretty decent area with booths, small games and mostly many aspiring students. Faculty of engineering was exactly on the opposite side of the booth of Architecture. So Fang could look at Tan all the time, but they were too far away, so they couldn’t talk and Tan couldn’t cheekily flirt with him.

Oh, how much he would prefer being cheekily hit on than what he was now a witness of. This young girl, applying into engineering probably got stuck into the cement sidewalk, otherwise Fang couldn’t explain to himself why would she be standing right in front of Tan for last 25 minutes (and 32, 33, 34… seconds as Fang controlled anxiously every single second) She begun to step closer to him, little by little, so that his stupidly amazing and social boyfriend didn’t notice.

”P’Fang, help me here please” Kluen begged again as the booth was surrendered by group of at least eight people.

Fang sighted, this bubbly feeling of jealousy came from his stomach, crawled its way into his chest, stabbing his heart every second he breathed. Fang turned around and began explaining the subject the new freshmen has to take. As he patiently answered all questions of this nong, he turned around.

NO. That is not happening!

“Kluen, I’ll be right back” he almost squealed, knowing he isn’t actually guaranteeing his, as he proclaimed, quick comeback.

There was no way, that girl is standing now even closer, playfully grabbing Tan’s arm, while so obviously flirting with his boyfriend, who was uncomfortable, Fang knew he was based on his body language.

That fool was just too people pleasing to tell her to stop, surely because he felt like he could handle it and it’s not a big deal.

Fang took a quick long steps through the area. He was not thinking straight, (not that he ever was) not knowing what he’ll do or say, he just needs to get this girl away from Tan!

The girl made Tan so nervous and preoccupied that he didn’t even notice Fang coming, which pierced through Fang’s heart a little. Maybe he should leave them, what if Tan is actually happy?

Fang pushed these thoughts away as his blood was boiling at this sight. His boyfriend. HIS TAN!

He quickly approached his target.

“Teerak, I am going to get some drinks, do you want your usual?” Fang faked his honey covered voice. In contrast he pushed off the girl’s hands and placed his exactly where she had them. As if he wanted to erase her touch from his skin. Then he placed a quick kiss on Tan’s cheek.

The girl turned pale, backing off by taking a step back. Fang watched her with satisfied grin.

Tan’s eyes were open wide, Fang was someone who disliked showing affection in front of their friends, and now he did something so out of his character in front of a stranger.

Tan blinked a few times, before a big smile appeared on his lips. The smile that Fang knew, this smile belonged to him and him only.

”Teerak, you’re the cutest! My usual would be perfect!” Tan hugged him back, understanding the situation perfectly. Fang was on the edge of pushing him back, there was still a lot of people around and now that he showed the girl who Tan belongs to his mind cleared once again.

Oh no, what did he just do? How selfish and greedy he can be, he might have even misunderstood the situation. What if he made it up in his mind? Gosh, Fang’s realization hit him like a hard slap.

He pulled back. “I’ll bring it to you right away!” Fang smile with such a fake smile. Not that others could tell the real and fake smile apart but Tan could. Worry flashed in his eyes.

When Fang brought the drink that girl was nowhere to be seen, he just mumbled something to Tan and quickly excused himself that he is needed in the Architecture booth (which was in fact true)

Right after the event he came home quickly, alone. He didn’t let Tan to have a chance to find him.

Fang needed to ground himself. Gosh, he’s so self-centered. Fang sat quietly in the corner of the living room, he felt better as he had the whole room in front of him. Like as if he had control over it.

He leaned his head back against the cold white wall. He needed to get his racing thoughts under control.

What he did today was unnecessary, selfish and mostly embarrassing to himself. How can he get to feel such a wave of jealousy over something so small? He needs to control his emotions more.

The door slowly opened with a little squeak. “Fang? Teerak? Are you here?” soft voice of his lovely boyfriend filled the room and his mind as well.

“Yeah, I am here” Fang said, trying to hide his little shaky voice. He was about to stand up when Tan gazed into his eyes.

Tan didn’t say anything about being curled up in the corner of the big room. He just took a few steps and squatted in front of him.

”Teerak, what’s wrong?” he gently patted Fang’s hair and Fang felt himself melting into his touch, feeling even more guilty about his jealousy.

”I am sorry Tan” he began and sighted.

”Sorry for what?” Tan looked up thinking, then he sat right next to Fang, not leaving an single inch between them.

”Oh, is this about your jealousy over that high school student?” Tan smiled like he was so happy over that. Fang was so confused that he blinked a few times.

”I was not jealous- I-“ oh how useless this defense sounded.

”Fang, I know you” Tan smiled and snuggled into Fang’s shoulder.

”Okay, Okay, I was jealous and now I feel guilty that I overreacted.” Fang finally confessed what was weighting his heart.

”Ohhoo, Teerak. Overreacted? Overreacting would be pushing that girl off of me when she couldn’t take the hint! What you did was so romantic” Tan giggled with affection and continued: “your jealousy was so valid, I tried to hint to her that I am taken, but she ignored it all. And you should be touchy in public more often. I love it!!”

“But after that I felt needy and unlovable” Fang looked down slowly.

”Teerak, I love everything about you. Your personality. Your face. Your body. Your habits. And I love your neediness even more. Please, don’t overthink this” Tan was so great at dealing with his emotions. This small conversation chased away any storm clouds that were fogging his mind until now.

”Fang loves Tan” Fang said quietly, while smiling.

”ooo, so quiet! What did you say? I couldn’t hear it once more! Clear and loud! One, two three!” Tan could light up the room with his cheerful attitude and more importantly he lights up his heart.

Fang smiled, thinking that he wants to stay by his side forever.

”Oh, not this again!” he whined playfully and then he smiled: “Fang loves Tan!”

(They cuddled right after, cutie pies)

Notes:

Hello! Yes, I am still not over We are and I am definitely not over TanFang. Mostly because I understand Fang’s character. I feel with him, I act like him and he is so emotionally complex that I wanted to explore his feelings further. If I am ever asked to describe myself with BL characters I am mixture of Fang (from We are) and Mark (From Love mechanics) I won’t be over these two anytime soon, so you can enjoy how I imagine Fang dealing with jealousy. I hope you enjoy it at least a little!
Lots of love,
Sashya
