“You never asked why I was interested in Psychology.”
Stephen blinked, momentarily confused, before he remembered how he and Tony had met. “Tony, you want to know everything. I didn’t think psychology was particularly special in any regards.”
They were in the small house that Tony rented with Rhodey. Tony had said he wanted to show Stephen something, but they’d gotten distracted greeting each other properly. Stephen couldn’t help but hope the long distance thing didn’t last longer than it took for them to graduate, but they had never talked about that.
“True enough,” Tony acknowledged. “But there was a reason, this time.”
“Oh?”
“Experimental psychology,” Tony said. “The scientific investigation of basic psychological processes such as learning, memory, and cognition in humans and animals.”
“I know what experimental psychology is,” Stephen said, laughing. “You came to my psychology class.”
Tony rolled his eyes. “Anyways, that thing I wanted to show you all month. You ready?”
“Always.”
He followed Tony as they climbed to the top floor, set apart for Tony’s projects. Tony pulled him to the room furthest down where a bunch of computers were set up. “Had to buy a server farm in Virginia to make this possible,” Tony was saying. “Don’t tell Obie, he’d be upset about the investment, but it was my own money.”
“Make what possible?” Stephen asked.
Tony’s eyes shone with anticipation. “Stephen, meet Just A Rather Very Intelligent System.”
“Hello, Mister Strange,” came a voice from one of the computers. “Sir, has told me a great deal about you.”
Stephen glanced from Tony to the computer.
“I haven’t even showed Rhodey yet,” Tony said. “I wanted you to meet him, first. I call him JARVIS.”
Stephen knew he didn’t understand, not fully, but… he understood enough. “It’s an honor to meet you, JARVIS.”
