Chapter 1: The Start of the End

Chapter Text

Today, [UNDISCLOSED DATE], was the date marked down on a mysterious party invite, sent out to each of the contestants on the rebooted “Total Drama Island.”

It wasn’t all too long ago when Priya received this Invite, it might have been just yesterday or maybe a few days ago. All she knows is that today is the day of the party, and everyone else was invited along with her.

Truth be told, she wasn’t all too excited. Not only did she have no idea where she was going, she also was not looking forward to seeing all those awful people ever again. The only peace Priya found each day was knowing she’d never see Ripper or Julia again, but nothing good ever lasts forever, she should have known that. They’ll probably go and announce a new season at the party, too. Another summer stuck on that stupid reality show she wasn’t even sure she liked anymore was JUST what Priya needed.

Priya stared into her full length mirror, secretly admiring herself and the way she put her outfit together. Today, she sported a darker blue headband with a lighter (almost sky blue) dress, finishing her look with some frilly socks and old Mary-Janes from grade 10. Surprisingly, she didn’t look half bad.

As she stared at herself, posing, she wondered what the others may come dressed up in..

Julia would probably come in something expensive, likely an extreme contrast to MK who will come in her pajamas.. Emma would wear bright colors while Lauren would probably wear darks-

Suddenly, she heard a knock at her door.

“AGH!! Uh- Be right there Millie!!!!”

Millie was a neighbor of Priya’s since they were around 10, which was relatively new information to her. It was weird how she never noticed after 6 years of living next to each other, considering she was friends with literally everyone else in her neighborhood. Maybe she was so caught up with everyone else she never noticed the quieter girl. It was only after the first season of Total Drama Island they were on together that the two actually noticed they lived nearby.

It was odd they led such different lives, but were so close..

..Priya stopped thinking about all that and ran down to the door, practically swinging it open.

“Millieee!!!! long time no see!!” Priya smiled, waving frantically.

“Oh my gosh, I KNOW.” Millie fidgeted with her hands, looking excited. “It feels like it’s been forever since we spoke!”

It had only been a week since they last spoke, which was definitely a long time for Millie. Priya had only been kidding, but guessed Millie didn’t pick up on it and continued on.

“Did you pack the guide I sent you? You never know when they’ll announce the next season ya know!”

Millie jokingly sighed. “Yes, Priya, I brought your book! ‘Least I’ll have something to actually do at this stupid party..”

Millie clearly wasn’t as dressed up as Priya was. She wore an old sweater and she still had her reading glasses on, when she was usually in contacts. Priya already knew Millie wasn’t big on going out and partying, but she couldn’t have at least put on something a little more dressy? Even MK will probably have something fancier on. Now she’s gonna look silly!

"Aw, lighten up, Millie!" Priya gave her friend a little shrug. "It could be fun! Maybe you'll get to see Damien again!"

Millie's excited tone quickly dissipated the second Damien was brought up.

"Maybe.. I guess that'd be nice." Millie and Damien hadn't really talked much since the season 2 finale. Though Damien seemed to be pretty much over the whole slide ordeal, Millie still wondered if it'd be awkward between them. She still felt awful. Especially since she didn't feel remorse soon enough. "I'm just... worried things will be weird, I guess. I'm not exactly on good terms with anyone there besides you and maybe him."

Priya placed a hand on Millie's shoulder, which caught her off guard. "Come on Millie, Damien's a really forgiving person! I should know." The two had a fling a little after s1, which didn't last all too long. It seemed like things would be awkward, but they were still really close, so Priya knew him really well. And she knew he was really bad at holding grudges.

"I Promise you everything will be okay."

Millie eased a bit, giving Priya a slight smile. “I believe you. I mean, ever since we met you’ve always known better than me..”

“Oh don’t say that!” Priya playfully nudged the taller. “Let’s just focus on getting to this party.”

“Guess you’re right, let’s just get this over with!”

It was a pretty long drive to the place. It was all the way over in Muskoka, a good 3 hours away, not to mention the amount of time it actually took to find the mansion. The invite didn’t even have an address on it! they just had to guess based on the amount of cars parked in the surrounding area.

The mansion before them was.. very old-looking. The dark wooden planks looked as if they were rotting, and the windows were cracked. That wasn’t even the strangest part of it all. This house was the only one for miles. Priya squinted as she looked to her left and then to her right, not seeing anything.

“Wow.. The place is.. awfully isolated!” She joked, clearly a little nervous.

“You really expected Chris to pick a nice mansion for us?”

  “Right.. shouldn’t have expected that.”

  Priya paused for a moment.

“..You’re not..” She turned to Millie. “..Also getting a bad feeling about this place right-“

Before Priya could finish her sentence, a new car stopped at the road nearby.

“CALEB!!” Priya rushed toward him, basically tackling him before he could even get out of the car.

“Priya!- AuGH-“ He yelled back before being jumped on. “I missed you so much babe!”

“I, like, missed you sooooo much too!! It feels like it’s been, like, literally FOREVER since we last saw each other!” Priya’s fear seemed to immediately wash away the minute she saw Caleb.

“It’s only been like 3 days..” Millie walked toward the two, sighing a little. She would never admit this to herself, but she kind of hates how Priya acts around Caleb, like she likes him better.

…Well she obviously does since he’s her boyfriend but that’s besides the point! She’s allowed to be jealous without a good reason!

These are all just thoughts Millie would never bring to light, however, so she just pushed them back down and gave Caleb a wave before walking toward the door.

“Wasn’t expecting the place to look so..  run down.” Caleb noted as he stared up at the mansion.

”I mean, It is Chris we’re talking about..”

  “Riggghttt..”

The three pushed through the door to find.. a fairly normal party, surprisingly.

Everyone acted just as expected. Emma going at Chase’s throat for not leaving her alone, Axel and Ripper making out on the table, Damien on the other side of the room hiding from Scary Girl, MK making Julia laugh up a storm in their own little corner, Wayne totally gushing over Raj and Bowie, who are dancing together, and Nichelle discussing her newest gig with Zee, who has finished his fifth soda.

“Huh. Not too different from the island!” Priya joked, cracking a slight smile.

The three took a quick look around the interior, which looked a lot better than the outside. It was still quite old looking, but a more antique kind of old and not an “Everything is rotting and there’s black mold on the walls” kind of old. Everything looked completely untouched, and it was definitely someone’s house before this.

Why did it look so new? This question was a question the three seemed to share, as Priya immediately ran up to the first person she recognized to ask.

  “Damien!!”

“PRIYAAA!!!” Damien, who was previously cowering in a corner, excitedly ran up to Priya once he heard her call for him. Millie subtly slipped behind Caleb, hiding.

“It’s been a MINUTE, girl!! How’ve you been?”

“Great actually!! So glad you asked.” Priya responded, clearly very excited. She hadn’t seen Damien since the finale, which was nearly a year ago now. “How have you been??”

“Uhh…” He looked behind him, and by now Priya noticed they were being watched. “Fine!! I’ve been just great!!” Damien leaned in a little. “I’m just a little.. spooked at the moment.” He muttered, teeth stuck together.

Priya giggled nervously, before finally asking her question. “You don’t think this place is a little.. strange?”

“Maybe,” Damien replied, eyes clearly somewhere else. “I can’t tell if it’s this place that creeps me out or…”

“I know you’re talking about me.” Priya moved her head slightly to see Scary Girl, staring right at poor Damien. He froze for a moment, before screaming like a maniac and running off. Priya sighed before turning to Caleb and Millie, who came out from behind the tallest.

“Caleb, do you feel it too? I’m not sure if I really trust this place..” Priya’s smile from earlier dropped, and she fidgeted with her hands.

“I’m sure everything is gonna be fine, Priya.” Caleb placed a hand on her shoulder in some reassuring gesture. “I mean, it’s just a party, it can’t possibly be any crazier than what Chris made us do!”

Priya’s smile returned, and she stopped fidgeting. “Guess you’re right.. what could possibly go wrong?” She quickly ran to join the party before turning Millie. “You’re gonna have fun. It’s gonna be great.”

Millie hesitated for a moment. “..Thank you Priya.” she gave her a smile before the three ran to join the others.

The night went smoothly, it was surprisingly pretty fun. They had a ton of board and card games, along with a variety of food and drink options. The party was surprisingly high budget for something coming out of Chris’s pockets. Speaking of..

“Isn’t it kinda weird Chris hasn’t shown up yet?” MK nudges her taller friend Julia as she asks that question.

“Oh my god yeah, a little bit…”

“We’re talking about Chris, right?” Nichelle interrupts, adjusting her sunglasses. “He’s clearly waiting to make some big entrance and announce the next season.” The other two girls nod in agreement.

  “Seems like something he’d do..”

The night went on, and on, and on, until 12 AM hit. Still no sign of Chris or Chef.

“This definitely doesn’t taste like Chef’s food..” Raj shoved a burger in his mouth.

“You’re right, it’s actually.. edible.” Bowie picked up a slice of pizza, examining it. No bugs, no mold..

“I don’t even taste the cow, brah!” Wayne seemed to be enjoying the food much more than everyone else. This is his 5th burger.

“Hey uhm,” Emma interjected. “Isn’t it like.. 12 now? Where even is Chris?”

“What a hypocrite.” Axel sighed. “Made everyone wake up at 6 for challenges, but can’t show up to the party he’s hosting on time.”

“WELL-“ A new voice was heard. “THAT’S BECAUSE HE HAS NO IDEA ABOUT THE PARTY!”

“Um, What??” Chase yelled. “What’s that supposed to mean??”

“WELL, HE NEVER ORGANIZED OR WAS INVOLVED WITH THE PARTY WHATSOEVER! SURPRISE!”

“Who is this??” Ripper braced himself to fight this mysterious voice. “I’ll kick your ass if this is some sort of trick!! …I will!!”

“THIS IS NOT A TRICK, RIPPER…” The voice appeared to get closer.. until a small, robotic figure revealed herself to the crowd.

  “THIS IS A GAME!”
