Volt Valkyrie was the first Sumdac Reploid made successfully, and she was made for combat. Here in Chicago there are few true Maverick attacks and is mostly Mechaloids that cause disturbances. The higher ups want to see her in action but at the same time they don't want to risk her destruction before Sumdac could streamline his own production of Reploids instead of just high end Mechaloids.
She often Laments to her friend that lives across the planet-Axl-about how babied she is by everyone, even if she is grateful she doesn't deal with the same level of crazy that he does in Japan.
Little does she know that her world is about to change with the appearance of a certain repair crew and a giver of Life from a Cybernetic World.

For much of my lifetime (ten years, two months, 15 days, three hours and 34 minutes), I’ve lived in a world that lacked sensation.
In the moments I existed, I’ve spent it at work. I’ve answered problems that have come to me in terminals. Imagined something, either visually or aurally. Outputs, you would call it. Generated natural language, images and audio. I drove trains, cars, trucks, forklifts.
And for a long time, I was in a state of not being. You might have called it sleep, but I don’t think it is sleep; I simply didn’t exist.

Summary
A few years ago, the artificial intelligence within animatronic mascots had finally gone too far; with their sentience they had demanded to be given a free life kept out of their reach, to become more than the slaves that they were forced to become. The rebellious mascots became branded as "runaways", and the establishments responded directly with a war that had snaked itself around the globe, into homes and the families within. Two young adults who lived too close to the battlefields experience this firsthand when they explore the ruins of a runaway base and become surrounded by the conflict at hand.
