Chapter Text
Daisuke woke up to feel his head pounding. His eyes fluttered open to an empty white void. The white wasn’t blinding him, but it was bright enough to have him stunned for a few seconds. He slowly sat up to see Anya right at his face. He gave a surprised yelp, or more rather like a garble.
”Anya-.” Daisuke was quick to hack up blue goo before looking up at the lady.
The same blue goo started cascading from her eyes as a small smile grew on her face. “Hello Daisuke.”
The other stared at her for a long while, his mouth agape. He slowly started scooting backwards. “No no no… y-you’re supposed t-to b-be dead. How are you-.”
Daisuke gave a horrified gasp as he brought his shaking hands to his face, the reality sinking in. He could feel the giant axe slash on his face and the red sticky liquid dripping out.
“No no no no no no no no no-.”
”Daisuke, please calm down.” Anya said softly, her voice echoing with multiple voices over. Her hands held Daisuke’s shaking hands. “You’re safe here.”
Daisuke couldn’t help but start crying as he got on his knees. “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry… I should’ve known, I should’ve helped. I knew he was-.”
Anya quietly pulled the other into a hug. The void was silent beside Daisuke’s broken sobs. The moment was cut short when a loud shout and thud echoed. Anya looked up to see a familiar face struggle to his feet.
”Where the hell am I?” Swansea grumbled in his gruff voice.
”Hello Swansea.” Anya echoed softly.
The man in yellow whipped around with bewildered eyes. “Anya- I…” He seemed to be at a loss for words as he saw Daisuke crying in her arms. “Why..? Why did you do it?”
Anya wasn’t expecting that question. “I… I had too. Honestly that possibly might have been the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Swansea stared at her with his void black eyes. “But why?”
Anya glanced off, a look of guilt drawn on her face. “I couldn’t handle it anymore.”
Swansea folded his arms together, his open chest making a soft squelch thanks to the bullet wound. A long and tired sigh escaped his lips. He soon joined the two in what was the floor of the void, sitting beside the crying boy and rubbing his back. “You took it like a champ kid.”
Anya shot him a ‘seriously’ kind of glare before spotting someone else falling down with a thud. Her eyes widened as she watched the figure stagger to his feet.
”Anya?” The figure called out as he ran towards them.
Swansea’s head snapped around, anger burning in his eyes. He slowly got up, his hands balling into fists. “Why the fuck is that bastard back?”
Jimmy was quick to slow down seeing Swansea’s hostility. “Woah… all of you are here too?”
Anya slowly stood up next to Swansea, leaving Daisuke sitting on the floor. “You don’t deserve to be here.”
At this, Jimmy’s face turned as red as a pale ghost face could be. The bullet wound on his head splattered blood. “How dare you say that to me! I was the one taking charge of everything! I was the captain, I was THE HERO!”
Swansea snapped and hurled a fist towards Jimmy’s head. “The fuck you mean a HERO?! If anything, you were the villain!”
Jimmy scowled and jabbed a finger towards the man in the yellow shirt. “Excuse me! If it wasn’t for you acting so brash and chopping the kid’s head off, he wouldn’t be dead!”
”Well if you hadn’t sent him to go into the vent, he wouldn’t have been injured in the first place!” Swansea shouted angrily, both angry at Jimmy and for Daisuke. “Now I’ll never be able to tell my family what the hell happened to me!”
Jimmy glared at Swansea before looking over to Anya. “Well, if you hadn’t gone and locked yourself in the medical bay, Daisuke wouldn’t even had the need to climb into the vent.”
Anya, having being silent the whole time, took offense to this. Her mouthwash-blue eyes widened as her voice suddenly rose to an incredibly high pitch. “How dare you say that! If it wasn’t for you thinking with your dick, then I wouldn’t have thought about drinking myself to death! That baby was your fault! Everything bad that happened was because of you! You never took the responsibility and that ended up with all of us dead! You were supposed to be the captain that we needed!”
Jimmy had hit his breaking point. He knew he was backed into a corner and couldn’t put blame on anyone else. So he had to change the topic. “BUT CURLY WAS THE ONE WHO CRASHED THE FUCKING SHIP! IF CURLY NEVER DID THAT, WE WOULD ALL STILL BE ALIVE!”
Swansea stared at Jimmy. “How does that have to do with anything?! You still did the deed with Anya! That can never change!”
”That’s right.” Daisuke finally spoke up. “Curly never crashed the ship, you did.”
At this, Swansea and Anya both fell silent. Jimmy had a nervous laugh before slowly backing away. “W-What…”
”You never bothered to hang out Curly. In fact, only I did.” Daisuke said slowly. He never liked being the target, but he just had to protect his friend’s reputation. “You were the one that disengaged autopilot. You were the one that set the ship to crash. You were the one that left Curly in the cockpit.”
Daisuke jabbed his finger at the former co-pilot, eyes wide with fury. “Curly was never the problem, you were.”
Swansea and Anya both looked at Jimmy; anger, confusion, and disappointment clouding their faces. “Curly cared for us. You never did.”
Jimmy’s hands balled into fists, an angry growl growing louder. The white void began to tremble, the voices growing louder and louder as it echoed in the ivory prison.
“NO! I WAS THE CAPTAIN! I WAS THE ONE TRYING TO HELP! CURLY WAS GOING TO LAY US OFF! HE NEVER CARED FOR US!”
“CURLY CARED FOR ALL OF US!” Daisuke screamed angrily, his giant open wound on his face startling Jimmy. “YOU WERE THE PROBLEM!”
Swansea couldn’t take it anymore and started hurling his fists at Jimmy. Swansea then pinned Jimmy to the ground as he pummeled him. Jimmy screamed loudly as he tried to fight back but was ultimately overpowered. Daisuke joined in and started kicking the former co-pilot’s body while Anya seemed to have caught someone else.
”A-Ahhh… A-An…ya?” The figure croaked as best as he could.
”Curly..?” Anya gasped quietly before running towards him.
”An…ya.” Curly croaked as he did his best to smile.
Anya nearly toppled him over as she hugged him tightly. He did look a bit different, a bit of his face was back and he had hair back. His arms and legs were still horribly disfigured, but at least it wasn’t as bad as before. He still only had one eye and the bandages on his head. She was quick to piggyback him and bring him over to where Daisuke and Swansea were. Jimmy had managed to crawl away, though terribly beaten up.
”Didn’t know you had so much bite in ya kid.” Swansea chuckled boisterously as he patted Daisuke roughly on the back.
Daisuke gave a chuckle before looking at Curly. “Oh no… did he..?”
”D-Don’t wo…rry.” Curly struggled to speak clearly, but the other guessed what he said.
”All this because of mouthwash…” Swansea grumbled as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
Anya could feel the mood dampened but was quick to light it back up. “At least we’re back together now right?”
The other three gave quiet replies before Daisuke snapped his fingers. “Let’s give Curly a proper birthday!”
