Unexpected but not Unwanted

Summary:

Being in a sedoretu was never in Barbara's plans. Yet there she ended up

Notes:

Do I remember why I wrote this? Nope. But I did a thing that I told myself I would post something completely unrelated to any event. So here I am. But I really love this little glimpse into this world

Also sedoretus are awesome

Work Text:

Barbara wasn't really sure how she had ended up in the relationship she had. It was Dick's fault that was for sure. But beyond that she had no clue.

Ending up in a traditional sedoretu hadn't been in her plan, or even on her radar, growing up. Her parents hadn't had one and were happy. Neither had her closest friends. Sure they were around but it wasn't really common in Gotham. Most people barely had time to keep one partner happy let alone three.

Even the first time she had met Dick she had known that he wanted a traditional sedoretu eventually. It was ingrained in him. His parents had been one half of theirs, and the three of them had lost the other half before even coming from Europe. That want had been one that had made him never pursue a relationship with him. They were the same moiety and he would never break that tradition.

But she had been happy for him when he found Kori. She was the perfect morning woman to his evening man. Even if she had had to go through a ceremony to gain a moiety, not being from Earth. They were perfect together.

It was a lot harder when Wally joined them as the morning man. Barbara liked Wally well enough but something had broken in her at first. She was losing her best friend more and more. Dick really was her best friend and the person she most wanted at her side. But she would never be that for him. And him finding both others for his marriage confirmed it.

Except he hadn't drifted further. No, he had gotten closer and brought Kori and Wally with. Barbara hadn't felt the same connection, but given time she felt enough to marry them all.
