They say legends never die. But what they didn’t tell me, was that they did.
They say boys should never cry. But I always did cry.
They say love at first sight. But they never told me about heartbreak.
They say fight or flight. But when was that ever my choice?
They say strength is key. But what about my right to be alive?
They say I will never be. Because truly, who am I?
They say mind over heart. But what about my heart?
They say we’ll never be apart. But what if I want to be alone?
They say you’re a monster.
Or they’ll say you’re a demon.
But what if I just want to be a human?
They say “you’re overworking yourself!” But what if I need to work?
They say "you’re an awful person who would be locked up!” But why would that need to happen?
They say I’m the best of the best. But I broke so many rules to get here.
They say I’m such a brilliant person. But really, I’m not that smart.
They say A person with fire in their hearts.
Will always melt an icy person’s soul.
But why can't it ever be the other way around?
They told me I was the best.
So why am I here?
They say.
We’re the best of the best.
They say.
We have a future ahead of us.
So why are we here?
