Gus sighed deeply as he rolled over in his bed for what seemed like the 100th time. He couldn’t sleep. He could feel his eyes struggling to stay open but his mind physically wouldn’t allow him to sleep. With a final sigh he rolled onto his stomach and grabbed his scroll from under his pillow.
“2:17am”
His head flopped into his pillow in defeat as he accepted that he was NOT getting any sleep tonight.instead of continuing to torture himself and laying in his uncomfortably warm bed with his eyes screwed shut, he unlocked his scroll and opened penstagram. He scrolled on his feed for a few minutes untill the boredom of spectating other people’s lives came over him. He was about to just go back to trying to sleep, even though he knew it was absolutely useless, when he heard the familiar ping of a new chat.

His faced warmed up a little after seeing that his friend that he totally wasn’t horrendously pining over wanted to talk to him.
Gustheillusionmaster: yeppp
He quickly typed out his reply hoping to forget about his lack of sleep.

Gustheillusionmaster: can’t sleep

M4ttiscoolerthanu: sleep is for losers
M4ttiscoolerthanu: and also I’m bored
His need for sleep was quickly overcome by his interaction with Matt. He didn’t know why but he really wanted to see Matt right now. Like, REALLY bad. Without thinking properly his fingers started typing on the keyboard and hit the send button.

A smile crawled onto his face at his friend’s antics. He had no idea how they weren’t going to get caught though, his dad was definitely asleep by now but 9/10 times Gus can absolutely not hold his laughs in when he’s with Matt and vice versa. But he also knew that if Matt got caught sneaking out Steve would not give a flying fuck and just tell him to be careful. Steve was chill like that. Matt never talked about his parents much but it was clear that Steve took care of him most of the time, which Matt didn’t have a problem with. It was clear he admired his older half brother no matter how much he denied it.
He was cleaning up his room a little as quiet as he could as to not wake Perry up, even though he knew Matt wouldn’t care about the state of his room. His scroll buzzed again.
M4ttiscoolerthanu: mother titan its freezing out here
M4ttiscoolerthanu: u better have a blanket ready for me porter or prepare to die
Gustheillusionmaster: yes yes whatever king Matt 🙄
M4ttiscoolerthanu: that’s what I like to hear
He continued to scroll aimlessly on his socials untill he heard a bang at his window. Matt was throwing pebbles at the window. Fucking pebbles. He quickly got up and walked towards the window to open it before he could throw anything else at it.
“Matt stop throwing stuff you fucking idiot you’re going to make my dad wake up.” he said, glaring at Matt in the darkness. His face was slightly highlighted from the moonlight and his hair was gently blowing in the night wind. He felt his cheeks warm at the sight of him. He hates to admit that he thinks Matt is cute and covers it up by hurling swears and insults at him, thought Matt knows he doesnt actually mean it and jokingly insults him back.
“Augustus I swear to the titan if you don’t let me in right now I will unleash a whole can of whoop ass on you. ITS FREEZING.”
“The windows literally open dude, get up here.” Gus replied sarcastically as Matt stuck his tounge out at him in annoyance. He created a platform up to his now open window and Gus backed away so he could get himself in. After nearly falling backwards out of the window and landing on his illusion coven shaped rug he stood up and brushed himself off. Only once he was in the soft orange glow of his desk lamp he noticed the biggest cup of blue raspberry slushy he had ever seen in his life in his friends right hand.
“Where the fuck did you get a slushy from?” He said as he sat back down onto his bed and made room for Matt.
“I got thirsty while I was walking and there just so happens to be a 24 hour 711 down the road. I totally would’ve got you one but like, I’m broke.” The shorter witch replied as he also sat down on the others bed. He kicked his shoes off and immediately stole the dark blue blanket that was placed loosely on the bed. “You want some?” He asked as he shoved the overly large cup in the younger witch’s face. Gus moved his head away in disgust. “Ew no thanks. I have no idea how you can drink those” “good because I wasn’t gonna give you any anyways.”
A silence fell over the boys and suddenly they burst into a fit of giggles as they placed their hands over their mouths and breathed deeply to stop themselves from being too loud. Matt was now facing Gus and just from hearing his squeaky laugh he knew he was bright red and he hoped that his room was dark enough to cover it. He could’ve sworn he saw matts face flush a little but he assumed it was just because he was laughing. They fell into a comfortable silence untill Gus asked “do you wanna watch something?” “Like what?” The brunette replied, cocking his head slightly. “Luz gave me some human movies that she said she used to watch all of the time when she was a kid. You wanna watch one of those?” He took another sip of his slushy and then said “yeah sure why not but it better be good.” “All human movies are good! Except Megamind 2. We don’t talk about that. Ever.” “What the fuck is a mega mind?” “Don’t worry about it. Let’s watch Shrek, I already know this one’s good” somehow Luz had found a way to put her human movies onto the crystal balls that the demon realm has. He walked over to his shelf and picked up his crystal ball and placed it on his bed infront of him and Matt. It took him about 5 minutes to set the movie up and it was probably highly illegal and he had no idea what he was actually doing, but eventually he managed and proceeded to tackle Matt for the blanket. “Back off porter this is my blanket!” He shrieked as it was pulled from his shoulders. “This is literally MY blanket! Whatever let’s just share you idiot.” He wrapped the blanket around both of them and suddenly Matt was VERY close to him. Their shoulders were pressed up against eachother and if it were any other friend he wouldn’t have thought anything of it but this was Matt. He ignored the rampaging butterflies in his stomach and started to play the film. He noticed matts breathing has sped up since he put them in this position but he just continued watching the movie.
After a couple hours of saying the ugly characters looked like the other, the movie ended and the sun had started to rise. Both boys looked towards the window after noticing the growing sunlight.
“What the hell? What time is it?” Matt asked as he turned back to face Gus who was now pulling his scroll from under his pillow once again.
“Oh my titan it’s 5am” he said in disbelief. Had time really gone that fast?
“Oh shit I better get back home or Steve will be worried.” “Yeah that’s probably a good idea.” The taller witch replied and got out of his bed so Matt could leave. The window was still open and just as Matt was about to lower the platform he was stood on that he had previously created, Gus said “Matt, wait.” “Yeah?” He replied, waiting for an answer so he could go back home before Steve sent out a search party. Gus moved closer to the window ledge and he had no idea what came over him but he grabbed Matt by his hoodie collar and shoved his lips against his. Matt let out a high pitched squeak as he realised what was happening. Gus immediately pulled back with a flushed face and backed away. “Fuck i am so sorry I have no idea what came over me, we can stop being friends if you want I’ll just pretend this never happ-“ his apologetic rant was cut short by the feeling of lips back on his own. He just kissed Matt. Matt just kissed him. MATT JUST KISSED HIM?! “See you later, Gus.” Matt said who also had an extremely red face, who then lowered the platform and bolted away before Gus could fully register what had happened. This was gonna be a crazy story for willow tomorrow. He flopped back onto his bed feeling lightheaded. He thought he was dreaming. This had to be a dream. Matt had kissed him! His scrolled buzzed again.

another dumb smile found its way back to Gus’s face and he let out a quiet giggle.
Gustheillusionmatser: night jerk. Sleep well.
Matt hearted the message and Gus put his scroll back under his pillow after he saw he was now offline. He suddenly found it much easier to fall asleep than before even though his whole body felt like jelly and he couldn’t think of anything other than the feeling of matts soft lips agains his own, even though he did taste like that awful slushy he was drinking. He then noticed the empty cup was still on his nightstand. He smiled softly and finally fell asleep. He had a good feeling about whatever was happening with him and Matt.
